Captain_Colossus
Is everyone seeing this?- from the perspective of the gunner's station, MG bullets now huge: about the size of autocannon rounds. And furthermore- shells no longer bounce off the ground.I noticed that the BMP-1 low pressure gun seems more active, but is also less accurate. That's neat.
ChanceBS
Has the tracer to bullet ratio increased in the Beta? Maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet..Nice work ESIM staff.
MAJ_Fubar
Yeah I noticed the larger tracers along with more dispersion for MG rounds, which makes for more survivable troops (especially troops in woodlines, a far harder kill there ). Thanks guys...I'm a like'n it!
Moderators Volcano Posted December 13, 2007 Moderators Share Posted December 13, 2007 Good point about round ricochets and coax tracer sizes, we will look into that.
Tacbat
I'm also seeing that the .50 cal on the M88 isn't zeroed properly. I get the bullets hitting to the right of the sight picture.
MAJ_Fubar
Some other MG related stuff:The .50 on the M-88 has the same RoF and sound as a M-240/MG3For some reason at ranges beyond 200m (on the M1 at least) the fall of the MG rounds doesn't adjust with the point of aim but stays at the last indexed range.
oscar19681
Yes i also noticed that the m88 has the same sound as the m240 in the support tutorial. Its also listes as a MG insted of an HMG. However when i was playing a mission in the editor the m88 had the right sound and listed the 50. as a HMG.
dejawolf
yeah, the M88 machine gun is wrong. it should be a .50 M2HB, but for some reason it became an M240.
Hooker
I have noticed that the rate of fire sounds too fast for the Ma Duce. Hopefuly it will be fixed with the relese in the summer. Unless someone dose a new sound mod ??
Captain_Colossus
AGL seems a little impotent vs the Bushmaster- my vehicle was sit several times over the front with no damage. Suspension damage was already there previously from small arms.
Tacbat
Yeah I noticed the larger tracers along with more dispersion for MG rounds... It appears that the dispersion also carries over to the Brad, LAV and CV. Was this intentional? I could see coax/MG having a noticeable dispersion effect, but for a main gun it seems too much, especially at longer ranges. And here I had problems hitting targets beforehand!
Members Ssnake
We've been using real figures where we could get them, and are using interpolation where we don't. One of the core assumptions is that the smaller the caliber the more dispersion you will see. Having said that, maybe we did a bit too much here.
Moderators Volcano Posted December 31, 2007 Moderators Share Posted December 31, 2007 I have noticed that the rate of fire sounds too fast for the Ma Duce. Hopefuly it will be fixed with the relese in the summer. Unless someone dose a new sound mod ??Well, you can probably find a youtube sound mod if you prefer, but the new sound is a freshly made recording of an actual M2HB HMG, and is part of the new recordings of all the weapons systems. So perhaps your memory has failed you here.
GH_Lieste
Dispersion should vary according to weapon mode of operation eg bolt open/closed, long/short recoil, blow-back the rate of fire (well spaced single shot usually more accurate than high rate) and the quality of ammunition.
Zipuli
Volcano I've noticed same thing... it's not that the M2 sounds too fast when firing it yourself, but when a HMG team fires or the M88 fires M2, the sound file played seems to be wrong... to my ear it sounds just like M240, and I have not used any mods...Zip
Moderators Volcano Posted December 31, 2007 Moderators Share Posted December 31, 2007 OK thanks. I knew about the M88's incorrectly mounted LMG, but he was referring to the M2 sound in general (or so it seemed). On the other hand, I thought the LMG issue was fixed in 2.370 and everything I am seeing says that it is (ammo type in the editor and the HMG sound in the mission).
Moderators Volcano Posted January 5, 2008 Moderators Share Posted January 5, 2008 OK, I want to be sure here. So are we saying that when the sound on of the cal .50 when you fire it from the top of the HMMWV is different than the cal .50 when fired from on top of the M88? I am not seeing this as far as I can tell, and I thought this was addressed so I have to be sure.
Tacbat
I can't hear a difference between the .50 on the M88, Humvee or the HMG team, whether or not I'm shooting or the AI is from external view.
Hackworth
are any of you guys using the sound mod by Daskal?...
cobrabase
Hell yeah! Why do you think I have a shit-eating grin for hours after I use the MA Deuce in the sim?!!His sounds are simply righteous.

I could see coax/MG having a noticeable dispersion effect, but for a main gun it seems too much, especially at longer ranges. And here I had problems hitting targets beforehand! I also noticed what I THINK is more dispersion when using the 25mm bushmaster against distant targets. Anyone else observed this?
Hackworth
actually, i asked because i was wondering if the problem was the mod and not the original sounds
Moderators Volcano Posted January 6, 2008 Moderators Share Posted January 6, 2008 OK then, it seems to not be a problem since the intended sound is playing properly. I was confused at first becuase at one time the M88 incorrectly had an LMG but it was fixed before the public beta release. If I recall correctly, the 25mm dispersion is a bit too high and should be corrected in the future.
