aurens
Simple Question: Is there a German word/term for the Leopard 2A5/6/7's applique wedge armor on the turret face? Any term specifically for the Leopard 2's wedge armor would also be nice.

aurens
UPDATE: The term for such armor seems to be "Keilpanzerung"
Members Ssnake
I doubt that this is the official term. It's a direct translation/visual description (wedge = Keil) so it kinda gets the message across, sure. But I've been out of the army for almost 20 years now, so I don't want to pretend to know what the exact terminology these days is. My Leo 2 using customers all speak English to me...
Grenny
Hmm, I find referenced as "Panzerungsmodul.." +where it is placed. (Turret front, Hull, Turret side etc etc)
MikeKiloPapa
Hmm....i have just had a dig through my old technical documentation on our Leo's ....in the manual "TDv 2350/069-10 DK ......Beschreibung, KPz Leopard 2 A5 DK" , KMW simply calls the applique armor "zusatzpanzerung turm /wanne ( as in add-on armor turret and hull) ...more specifically the front wedge is listed as "adaptive panzerung" and the side armor " schwenkbare panzerung. (because it swings open i guess)

lavictoireestlavie
I don't care what any of you want to call it! For me those armor modules will be known as "Schadenfreudegeräte" from now on ! >_<
