In all fairness, your question is very specific. There were T-80s in Soviet units in East Germany in the 1980s, so much is safe to say. There were T-80BVs, as documented by BRIXMIS. To RULE OUT that there may also have been T-80Us (which is the core of your question) is an entirely different caliber of question.

Well I assumed that the fact would have surfaced after nearly 30 years and that a board full of tank nuts with a special taste in Cold War gone hot scenarios would know the answer by heart. ;) Thnx though.

Vandpassage With Leopard 2

Today, the danish kampvognseskadron over Rena the river, with both tanks and bjærgningsvognen.

The aim is to test vandpassage and dybdevadning with heavy vehicles under realistic conditions. It's hard to practice it in other than artificial plant at home, but here in Norway, there are natural vadesteder in some of the rivers.

Before the panzers prepare and reconstitute the crew tanks. This includes control of the packaging and the hydraulic system.

All tanks came over.

Vehicle interior identification challenge; who can guess what kind of vehicle I'm sitting in here--  Hint#1;  The year of the photo was 2008, and the vehicle had *mostly* been phased out well before that time.  Hint#2;  It's a little cutie, it really is, but also a strong contender for most worthless steel beast to ever prowl the forest.  Additional hints available.

FIST ?

(The thing he works on looks similar to our fire-control and coordination "maschines" )

Bravo!  I'm typing on a vintage Forward Entry Device (FED), which does indeed facilitate digital fire mission generation and control, and the vehicle is in fact an M981 FISTV.

We've moved on as well; M7 BFIST, M1200, M707, M1131.  And I don't know what happened to the idea but in the early 2000s I remember playing on an Abrams FIST (AFIST) simulator, which was pretty impressive but apparently nobody else thought so.

I've always felt pretty strongly that the FIST should roll in whatever the supported maneuver unit rolls in; during Desert Storm FISTVs single handedly held up entire divisions, and I'm not talking about enemy divisions.  And I'm pretty sure they sat out OIF, at least all the mech units in OIF 1 went forward with BFISTs, but as late as 2008 you could still find yourself in a FISTV stateside.
