Hi, I'm new here

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Thought I would introduce myself. I am in North Carolina, USA and I was a M1 tank platoon leader and Troop XO in the 80's. My only gaming experience has been in the UCOFT and Simmnet back in the day. Looking forward to playing SB as it bring back some good and not so good memories of tanking in the FRG.

Welcome!

Can I suggest you work your way through this:

Then eventually perhaps have a look into Thank God Its Friday (TGIF) a multi-player, quasi serious event held, surprisingly enough on Friday evenings, US time.

There are a few "Virtual Units" out there who will help you along, the one that is best for you will depend on your availability, etc.

Hey Gary. I'm new to Steel Beasts as well.

I've actually been thinking about posting here to ask if there is anyone with some experience that would be willing to show me the ropes RE: commanding a tank.

I'm coming over from the flight sim world and could use some help learning to operate on the ground.

Let me know if you'd want to join up.

Gary / Wrench,

I'm happy to help.

The question will be a suitable time - I live in Australia.

Its unfortunate as you have both just missed a series of training  / Q&A sessions that I hosted / conducted of the Christmas break.

I saw that Gibsonm,

It's a shame you couldn't record it (I read your posts explaining why)

I'll make my own post so I don't completely highjack GaryO's thread.

Hey, Wrench! Nice to see a familiar face. Welcome to being a treadhead.

Gary, nice to have you here. Before long, I'm sure with your background, you'll be teaching US things about tank ops.

If I may suggest, there are plenty of Cold War missions that focus on large unit defense in depth and some are quite challenging. The Fulda Gap series is good. Also, the NorthAG 1966 scenario is a fantastic showcase of scripting.

Welcome fellas. Good luck and have fun.
