CRP and FSE acronyms?

CRP= Combat Reconnaissance Patrol, one of up to three platoon sized lead elements for a Motor Rifle Regiment.  FSE= Forward Security Element, a Company sized security element for a Motor Rifle Regiment, typically 15-20 minutes behind the CRPs.  The CRPs find you and the FSE fixes you, allowing the rest of the opposing Regiment to either attack or bypass you as the situation dictates.

Usually the CRP and FSE / VanGuard come from the 3rd Battalion (be it a MR or Tank Regt) because they are the ones who provide the flank guards and rear guards as well, so that the first two Battalions are at full strength.

This sort of thing:

Things to note:

1. The CRP will usually have a 1 x Tk and 1 x Mech Platoon

2. The Advance and Main Guard (aka the FSE - depends on which country you are from) is usually a Company sized element.

3. What is represented is a Mech (MR) Bn not travelling as part of a Regt / BDE, but again the 3rd / depth Company here provides the the CRP, various Guards, flank and rear security to ensure that the lead Companies (and most of the tanks) are preserved in the Main Body to form the 1st and 2nd Echelons when needed.

Thanks.

The other advantage is that you can run this for Trainees and they can see a "live" Doctrinal template in both the map and 3D views, as opposed to a series of static Powerpoints.

And of course you can test their defensive solutions against this and we have an unbiased tool to evaluate them (removes subjective Instructor opinions, etc. from the mix).
