MisterCommander
What is the distance or size of each square on the map? I see the coordinate system, but wonder what units it is and the size of grid squares. I am trying to estimate and determine distances on the map.
MAJ_Fubar
At a scale of 1:50,000 (standard for SB's maps) each grid square is 1km square or 1000x1000m. Check here for further info.

Gibsonm
Actually regardless of the map scale (assuming its metric, not a nautical or aviation chart, ... i.e. a standard military topographical map) a square has 1 000m sides. Its just that on a say 1:25 000 map the squares on the paper are bigger and conversely, on a 1:100 000 map the squares on the paper are smaller than those on a 1:50 000 map. Members Ssnake
Plus, you have a wide range zoom function, so there's actually not much of a point discussing the scale (we do orient ourselves on the classic 1:50,000 scale map, however).
