Moderators Volcano Posted October 14, 2009 Moderators Share Posted October 14, 2009 Well, unless I am mistaken, asymmetric in its basic sense of the word means that it is not symmetrical. In other words, you would no longer be limited to only two sides (red vs. blue), but rather you could have multi sided scenarios such as red, blue, yellow, green all versus each other and so on. This could be used to represent factions or, at the very least, it would make some interesting multiplayer scenarios.
Tacbat
... such as red, blue, yellow, green all versus each other and so on. I don't mind the green guys, but I can't stand those

Gibsonm
Well, unless I am mistaken, asymmetric in its basic sense of the word means that it is not symmetrical. Yes thats true but the other military meaning relates to the two forces no longer being symmetrical. So in the "good old days" you had symmetric warfare with say 3rd Gds Shock Army up against VII Corps. Both forces had tanks, mech inf, .... and it was pretty much a question of who got there firstest with the mostest. Each side had developed forces tailored to meet what they expected the enemy to employ. Now to use another bit of jargon, the OPFOR is attempting to "functionally dislocate" the western military. So for example it doesn't matter how many Bn's of MLRS you might have if the bad guy is using IEDs and vest bombs to achieve their aim and operating in built up urban areas with lots of civilians that you can't kill by flattening grid squares with those MLRS. Sure you can park the MLRS and give the people roles on VCP's etc. but they are "out of role". Edited October 15, 2009 by Gibsonm
Members Ssnake
Pardon my ignorance, but "asymmetric" in what sense ?Simply put: The decidedly un-fun crap of contemporary warfare as seen on TV from Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechenya, Gaza.

Members Ssnake
I expect the Centauro to be part of the next PE version which will probably be released in early autumn 2010. Until May/June 2010 we'll be busy with high priority stuff, so we can then start with a two to three month beta test for the next PE version, and that makes a September/October release date likely.
