Only during the execution phase is some simulation code actually executed, and the sun position is part of that simulation code. Since no information about the sun position is availabe in the AAR or in the 3D preview, no shadows can be rendered. Given sufficient amount of development effort I suppose that could be changed ... but things like this aren't our top priority.
