"Blacklist" feature in pause and rejoin?

Saw these additional buttons last night:

 

 

Blacklist player

Manage blacklist

 

Their functionality does not appear to be covered in the Manual - any guidance?

 

I don't really want to "Blacklist" a participant to find out.

It was mentioned in the release notes, page 54. It lets you ban players from the session. The release notes say the blacklists are erased when restarting SB, so you it's not a permanent thing.

I understand that but not sure its needed.

 

If you want to ban someone from the session, surely just don't offer the "pause and rejoin" to begin with? After all they have already dropped.

 

I guess maybe if two or more want to rejoin and you only want one, you could exclude the other(s)?

As the release notes say, if a client is blacklisted it is forcibly removed from the session. Thus, if you want to kick someone from a session the host pauses, opens the join wizard and then blacklists the troublemaker.

OK but I would have thought that was what "remove" was for.

 

Guess I need sit down and read the notes and then experiment.

It's primarily designed for classroom usage, actually.

Classroom clients can be set up to automatically join a session on startup. But if you don't want such a client to join your session, the only way to get rid of a robot is to blacklist him. We then figured that in some rare cases with obnoxious players it might also have a secondary use (hopefully never) in the Personal Edition.
