4.163 patch executable does nothing

Recommended Posts

I have 4.162 and downloaded the 4.163 patch executable.  Click on it... nothing happens.  Do I have to place the patch executable in a certain file folder?  This is weird.

No. It "should" start. But maybe Windows is preventing its execution?

At least on one of my machines it was warning me whether I really wanted to proceed and I had to click "Show more information" first before I could then tell Windows to proceed anyway. Suppose your Windows is set up even more restrictive so that this warning doesn't even show?

I've tried it after turning off my firewall.  No go.

No, its not external (i.e Firewall related) its more likely the internal Windows security.

I had a similar issue - I received a warning that an "unknown" application was trying to run.

I had to click on "more info" (or similar) and then "ok" to get it to run.

Perhaps the warning is buried under an already open window or web page, etc.?

That shouldn't be necessary (famous last words, I know); if it was, it's a bug. But different Windows 10 versions may behave differently in this respect. Thank you, Microsoft.

Not sure what to say about it. From our end, no compatibility settings are required. If it's necessary nevertheless, it sounds like a symptom for a deeper rooting local problem to me, maybe a recent driver update gone bad?
