IrishHussar
Hi all I have been looking at the Engineer tasks and can see that there is the facility during run for certain Engineer units to place planned fortifications on the map. My question is how does one thereafter execute the said planned fortifications?? Thanks for any help!!
Gibsonm
Its built into the AI. With the wire for example you place the vehicle, setup where you want the wire (you should see a "deployment circle" around the vehicle), set it orientation and type and then the obstacle is built by the AI. Similarly with the vehicle emplacements. With those you can also specify emplacement times depending on whether you want it to be realistic or accelerated to ensure they are built within the average, short scenario, length. If you have some spare time, let me know and I can walk you through it, or we can do it Wednesday morning (your time) during the next BG ANZAC session.
Gibsonm
Let me expand a little on the previous answer, regarding vehicle emplacements. 1. In terms of the vehicle emplacement itself, you do all the usual things (one tier / two tiered, camouflaged / not camouflaged, vehicle type, etc.) and sight it. However in the "Completion (%)" option you select a % other than 100%. The closer to 100%, the less time it will take to complete. 2. Then select a suitable AEV / Dozer (when you click on it it will have a blue shaded zone around it) and route it nearby and give it a stay command. Ensure that the blue shaded area at the destination overlaps the planned emplacement location. In my experience (unsure if you can prioritise this), the AEV will work on the emplacement that is least complete first. That is, assuming both are in the destination's blue shaded area, it will start on and complete one with 0% Completeness first and then move on to another that is say 10% complete. 3. Lastly in the Mission Editor "Options" menu select whether the Construction times are Rapid / Moderate / Realistic (realistic being the slowest but most accurate).
Members Ssnake
I believe the AEV will pick the one that is closest, not the one that is least complete - but I haven't verified this. If emplacements for an entire platoon are arranged in a more or less linear fashion, you can make the AEV arrive at one end, so it'll work the outermost emplacement. When done, it should move to the next and thus work through the whole line without requiring further input. Wire obstacles are transported by vehicles, but built by infantry. So you need to dismount troops at the construction site. They will then take barbed wire rolls from nearby vehicles and start building the obstacle until a. they complete the obstacle, or b. run out of wire (bring more, and they will resume)
