I found a bug where extra enemy forces spawn at the wrong time.

Also set a max linit on spawns to avoid huge enemy force.

This is fixed and the download updated to version 1.0.2

Please re-download!

Cheers

@ben

Fear not - you do not need to upload map packages (unless you'd like to!)

As long as you 'publish' the map then it will be automatically downloaded when someone plays your scenario.

This scenario was an instant download for me, but I have yet to play it. I'm always a fan of your work.

Edit - Looks like I spoke too soon

Hi thanks, hope you enjoy it 👍

I have submitted the map here to the downloads section now.  The map hasn’t changed since I first uploaded in this post..  so no need to re-download.

Publishing itself doesn’t put the map on the server.. it just finalises the map and locks it..

It takes the moderators here a week or so to upload new maps to the Package server.. so until then users will just need to grab the .zip version and install manually.

The moderators will paste the map id into the description of the map once it’s on the server, and it should be automatically found by steel beats once it has been put on the official map server👍

Let me know if you can’t get the map installed where it should be!

As I mentioned,  Publishing the map (using the Publish Map feature in the Map editor) just locks and finalises the map.

It has nothing to do with getting that map uploaded to the Offical Maps server for automatic downloading.

That will be done manually by the moderators here, when they have time,  so for now since you are early, download the zip version and install it manually ( I included the file structure in the zip to help you locate the right place 👍)

Hope that makes sense!

I was was confused myself with the new system at first, but does seem to work well once the map is added to the server

cheers

I have tested otherwise.

I created a custom map

Published it

hosted MP session

MP participants were able to download the map

Maybe it works differently for SP content?

It "shouldn't". If it does, I'd like to know. Please contact Webmaster (here at SteelBeasts.com) to see if there was a delay or some other exception.

Hi Ssnake,

can you confirm..  publishing the map in the editor should automatically send it to the server and make it downloadable by anyone?

I was confused because in the maps 4.1+ download section it says

“3.  We will prepare your maps for distribution, this will create a package unique ID (UID) for the map.  We will upload the file to a public maps repository that the Steel Beasts Maps Download Manager service and Steel Beasts know how to use.  At that point we will delete the Zip/RAR file from steelbeasts.com, and update the text of your description to include the UID of the map package for manual downloading”

This suggests that the published map needs to be uploaded to this site.

Yes absolutely that’s what I’ve been doing, and after a few days my zip files are removed by the moderators and replaced by the map id for use with the download manager.  That’s how it seems to work..

No, it doesn't.

If I created this impression, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding that I may have caused.

You'd use the "Package Deployment Tool" instead to put all the necessary files into a compressed format, and upload this to the Download section for transfer to our map server. Otherwise anyone could upload anything to our map server, and this being the internet that's just No Go. Note that Delta maps and their base maps must be packaged separately.

This is a command line tool "PackageDeployment.exe" that gets installed with the other Map Package Tools (the best known is the Map Package Transfer Manager).

Quote

Package Deployment Tool

There is a special format in which map packages which are stored on the server are saved. This is done automatically when uploading a package using the Transfer Manager but can also be done manually in case the upload is done via other means. The tool to convert a Map Package into this new format is called the Package Deployment Tool (an optional component of the Map Package Transfer Tools suite).

This is a simple command line tool, expecting three arguments:

  1. the first needs to be ‘package’, instructing the tool to pack up a map package,
  2. the first needs to be ‘package’, instructing the tool to pack up a map package,
  3. the first needs to be ‘package’, instructing the tool to pack up a map package,

  4. the second (optional) command is the path to the folder holding the map package to transform (if not specified this defaults to the current folder).

  5. the third (optional) command is the path to the folder where the transformed map package is to be stored (this will be the current folder if not specified)
The tool will evaluate this folder and, in case all prerequisites are met, create a new folder (named after the package’s UID), holding all the required files (see

PackageDeployCMD_inv.png

This complete folder will then have to be uploaded to the Map Package Server.

Note this process must be done for each map package, regardless whether it’s a ‘base’ or a ‘delta’ package! So, if, for example, a ‘base’ package features three deltas, and you want to upload all these packages, the ‘deployment’ process must be done for each package (the base and its three deltas!). On the package server itself all these packages will be in the root download folder (i.e. at the same hierarchy level).

No Problem, was just checking, I couldn't tell which post you were referring to!

In my case my map is fairly small (60MB ish in .zip)..  with small maps like this is it ok for me to upload them here .zip format and the package deployment process to be done by the moderators before they add it to the server?

You can do it either way. If you use the deployment tool that probably saves us some work, but if you find it too complicated, we'll do it for you.
