Gibsonm
By now most readers will already know who BG ANZAC is, so I'll put the information relevant to this week in first, then background, etc. If you are new to the Forum, feel free to read the entire post. IMPORTANT: As a serving Officer, I am not allowed to make "public comment" about topics without clearance. This is why my signature block says what it says to cover written comment. Recorded audio on YouTube = "Public Comment", especially if I were to express a personal opinion (without knowing someone was recording). In addition recording people's voices in Australia is illegal without their permission or a Warrant. If you want to record a session, ASK! We maybe about fit you in (I maybe able to play the OPFOR, etc.). If you don't ask: a. Expect me to ask you to remove the YouTube (or other media). b. Don't be too surprised if you aren't welcomed back. BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front): Your Local time: Click on this link for Local time in your part of the world Count down: Time remaining until Meeting start Mission will start promptly at 0900 GMT. If you want a pre game "chat" then by all means come on line at say 0830 GMT, but so that the Kiwi's aren't after Midnight, the Mission will commence promptly at 0900 GMT. Agenda: Based on the recent sustained good attendance, we are embarking on a more structured approach (only sustainable if the attendance is maintained). Planned Agenda: 1st meeting: Teach / Discuss a topic (Attack, Defence, Convoy Escort, Reserve Demolition, OPs, ...) using a scenario / map as the basis for discussion. As to what we cover, that will be will be determined by the response to the related email "newsletter" for this Wednesday sent to regular attendees. 2nd meeting: First volunteer develops a plan for the tactical problem and we see how they go. There will be a brief debrief at the end looking at strengths / weaknesses of their solution, which the person COing the next week is free to incorporate into their solution. 3rd meeting: We play the same scenario with a different CO (each able to improve / adjust their plan based on their predecessor). 4th meeting: We play the same scenario with a different CO (each able to improve / adjust their plan based on their predecessor). 5th meeting (if there is one in a given month): Q & A - You need to supply the questions or a "player's choice" determined by responses here / to email. As always, visitors (apart from one individual) / first timers / spectators are welcome. Current Standard: 4.167 (either download from scratch or download and patch 4.162 / 4.163) Refer here: Please use the new Calendar RSVP function or post here to facilitate planning. The Teamspeak software is available here: Download Teamspeak client software How to connect and use it is detailed here: Steel Beasts Wiki Entry - Starter Pack Remote Access / Screen Sharing / Whiteboard Sessions: We continue the use of TeamViewer so people without the Steel Beasts software can connect and see and hear what we see and hear (looking over our shoulder if you like). Team Viewer available here This maybe a suitable vehicle for people to see what the software is all about (you can even use it on a Mac), without having to invest in even a short time limited copy. Anyway we'll see how it goes. So if you are interested, visit our web site https://www.bganzac.org and sign up.

BadgerDog
Had a lot of fun learning today. 😀 What did I learn? 1. Better actually train with a tutorial on a vehicle that you're going to be assigned. I was sweating that I'd get fired on in my Bradley when I didn't have a clue how to use the gunnery system and never even been on the range with it. Thanks to Gibsonm for covering my a$$ while I worked through what I was doing with it. I didn't realize I was being handed a vehicle and being told "have at it". I thought I was just going to ride around in his vehicle as an observer, eat munchies and have a nap. 🤣 2. Don't assign TeamSpeak press-to-talk key to CTRL as it also sets a marker and causes your vehicle (or ground pounders) to move to marker icon on screen. Couldn't figure for awhile why they were wandering all over the place. 🤔 3. Patience is a virtue and I wanted to thank you guys (and Gibsonm) for putting up with the delayed start because of my scenario failing to load ... 3 times. Still not sure why that's happening, but you "left no man behind". Thank you again folks.... got to start and learn someplace I guess. I think I need more bandwidth than 5 Mb/sec download DSL copper service with only 500 Kb/sec upload ... not much better then dial-up. They're installing fibre (1.5 Gb/sec) in my neighborhood for the end of September, so that should improve things on my end, which might have caused the scenario failure on my end, although restarting my computer seems to fix it too. Gibsonm
Glad you enjoyed it. I guess there's a point where if you want to learn how to swim you need to get wet. There's only so much you can learn from the beach. In future though if you definitely aren't comfortable just let us know and we'll sort something out.
chrisreb
Good to have you - much better just to give it a go you will learn faster! My scenarios have a lot of Leopard and M1 tank variants plus Bradleys, CV90 and Marders for APC Edited August 21, 2020 by chrisreb

My scenarios have a lot of Leopard and M1 tank variants plus Bradleys, CV90 and Marders for APC Thanks Chris 😀 With thanks, I've installed all the co-op mission set you left for me and I've been working with ones that have the Bradly heavily featured. I'm also tackling all the Bradley tutorials, repeating them to learn and get better at using the vehicle systems. At the end of my career I was put in Recce Squadron and spent a lot off time doing "sneak and peek" forward of the tanks. In many ways, I'm enjoying the Recce role on SB more than pure armor engagements. Is that heresy? 😆 I like the TOW and I qualified on it when it first came out in the 60's, but it was one of the first primitive ground models, and not as automated as what the Bradley carries, but similar in operation. I think I'm getting much better on the Bradley with all the keys and actions in various crew positions, so I'll be more comfortable next week carrying on in it, from where we left off. The only reason survived last week was by staying to the low ground and paying attention to Gibsonm. Regards, Doug
Gibsonm
Doug, If you mean the set in Discord it wasn't him But he certainly is the author of them. If you are up early again next week (really appreciate the effort) then I think that mission will introduce some platforms that you are more familiar with. Just continue to apply your general AFV vehicle-craft training(bounds, stay in the low ground, etc.) and you should be OK. The vehicle specific stuff comes with time.
chrisreb
Keep it up Doug - most of us started the same!
