CG35 Breakout From Merlen v3A

1) SITUATION:

23rd May 2020 5AM

Weather remains good with early morning haze burning off within the hour to give a fine day,

It is 4 days since we beat back the enemy attempt to rush the crossings of Merlen River

Enemy Command have not given up however.

A fresh assault force is being assembled to the South East. We do not intend to wait passively on events.

It has been decided that you will conduct a spoiling offensive to seize their stepping off area and severly damage the assaulting units in the area.

    a) Enemy:

Front line:
Estimated 1 full Coy T90 and one understrength composite company of T90 and BMP2.

These are spread across the entire front supported by a few missile teams and their surviving recon assets.
Some of these units are positioned around Lammedol to threaten our flanks and keep us under observation.

His heavier forces are further East owing to the lack of cover in the forward areas.

Assault Force:

So far the enemy seem to have assembled the best part of 2 Battalions of mixed T90 and BMP2 just off to the East.

We believe that once he feels his staging areas are under threat he will be forced to commence committing them
    to battle prematurely.

He will have moderate artillery support only as all his assets are not yet in place.

    b) Own:

Initial force:

3 x PLT VEC-M for Recon made up from survivors and repairs from recent battle
2 x Coy Leopard 2A6
2 x PLT CV90 Inf and 1 or 2 x Spike (depending on recent losses)
1 x CSS (2 Resupply, 1 recovery 1 Medic)

1 x SP MTR (6 tubes + 2 x supply)
1 x CMD with light UAV
1 x Deployed Airborne UAV
2 x Biber (in case any briging accross the R. Tellon used)

Reinforcements:

D Coy and the remainder of A Coy Mech will be released to your control once you establish more than 6 callsigns East of PL Tripwire (marked on map in Blue).

1 Foxtrot (2 x UH60 with Inf and Spike) is enroute ETA 30 mins

c) 3 Batteries  (each 6 tubes with HE, Smoke, ICM 120 rounds per tube)
You have 5 Priority fire markers which are deployable anywhere

2) MISSION:

Clear Gulscharte Hill, Mount Mingoz and Tolmen ridge areas by ensuring the indicated zones are free of enemy AFVs.

a) Concept of Operation:

You are to disrupt the enemy buildup by penetrating his front line, seize the dominating terrain overlooking his staging areas, and attrite his assault forces

i) Maneuver:

You are free to undertake any maneuvers you deem necessary but beware spreading youself out too far.

With wide fields of fire you will need to plan your moves to avoid getting caught by tank and missile fire. You have large stocks of Smoke and HE for today. Tomorrow of course is another matter.

ii)Additional terrain info

The River Tellon is bridgeable should you wish and there are a number of bridge crossings to the South. Whilst defended a co- ordinated assault would likely force a crossing.

iii) Co should consider keeping Reserves in easy reach of the front should enemy counter attack

5) COMMAND AND SIGNALS:

CO controls all indirect fire and can either control UAV or hand off
