Right.

Well, there's potentially a lot of missiles launched in quick succession, so I guess it depends a bit on your hardware and graphics settings, also on what type of ground you launch them (100% dustiness?).

What video card and CPU do you use, how many BM-21 are simultaneously firing in your scenario (how many are visible in your scene), and what's the frame rate drop? (Alt+F12 will show a frame rate counter)

What is your (Steel Beasts) screen resolution, what are the Steel Beasts graphics settings? (Alt+G, Alt+D)

  • Ssnake changed the title to BM-21(Grad) launch dust causing serious drop in framerate

Until Ssnake and co have written a better smoke physics optimisation.

You have 4 options

1) Reduce your graphics settings (Alt & G)

2) Reduce number of BM-21 Launchers in a fire mission

3) Buy better hardware

4) Endure low framerates

OMG! Gasp! The horror!

No need to get sarcastic when not even the facts are in. He wrote that the frame rates went down compared to an earlier version, and frankly, I'm not even sure if there is a way in the graphics settings to improve FRs that are affected specifically by smoke & dust particles.

That's all well... but I'd like to know a bit more.

Can you run the scenario in an older version of SB Pro PE (since you wrote that the drop wasn't so dramatic before)?

Or reduce that scenario to just the two launchers, so that we can use it as a test case? We need the exact same conditions to identify what's going on. Zip the scenario, then send it by email to me (see my avatar picture, it's my email address).
