Members Ssnake
Can you specify which smoke round exactly the Grad fired in your scenario, and how many rounds were fired? And which two versions' performances did you compare?
jppsx
was using 9m22/m21-of , it not a smoke round it just the smoke the grad make wen launching rocket i don't remember what version it was , it before the new smoke for the grad
Gibsonm
Ah so the smoke/dust generated by the firing at the BM-21's location. Not the smoke generated at the location where a smoke mission has been called for. Edited June 2, 2022 by Gibsonm
jppsx
yea also bm-21 don't have smoke rocket
Members Ssnake
Right. Well, there's potentially a lot of missiles launched in quick succession, so I guess it depends a bit on your hardware and graphics settings, also on what type of ground you launch them (100% dustiness?). What video card and CPU do you use, how many BM-21 are simultaneously firing in your scenario (how many are visible in your scene), and what's the frame rate drop? (Alt+F12 will show a frame rate counter) What is your (Steel Beasts) screen resolution, what are the Steel Beasts graphics settings? (Alt+G, Alt+D)
Hedgehog
Until Ssnake and co have written a better smoke physics optimisation. You have 4 options 1) Reduce your graphics settings (Alt & G) 2) Reduce number of BM-21 Launchers in a fire mission 3) Buy better hardware 4) Endure low framerates OMG! Gasp! The horror!
Members Ssnake
No need to get sarcastic when not even the facts are in. He wrote that the frame rates went down compared to an earlier version, and frankly, I'm not even sure if there is a way in the graphics settings to improve FRs that are affected specifically by smoke & dust particles.
jppsx
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz Installed RAM 24.0 GB nvidia geforce gtx970 System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor window 10 fps wen from 50 to 10 number of grad one and one visible dustiness seam to be 100% resolution 1980x1050 there no graphics setting to reduce particle effect
Hedgehog
Well you can either turn dustiness down or add a little water to ground at mission start. Mission editor > weather > ground saturation > more than 8%
Members Ssnake
That's all well... but I'd like to know a bit more. Can you run the scenario in an older version of SB Pro PE (since you wrote that the drop wasn't so dramatic before)? Or reduce that scenario to just the two launchers, so that we can use it as a test case? We need the exact same conditions to identify what's going on. Zip the scenario, then send it by email to me (see my avatar picture, it's my email address).
