I get that it may work for some and good luck to them, but I'll pass.

That is, in a nutshell, wyh eSim Games isn't promoting this. It adds someone else's bugs to ours and NVidia's. May be benign for some, possibly even most, but not to all.

What's working nicely for me (GTX1080) is:

latest release of the Vulkan wrapper https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases/tag/v2.3  64 bit d3d9 dll and the dxgi dll placed in ../Steel Beasts/Release

then added Reshade 4.9.1 from this repository https://www.mediafire.com/folder/8ar1jhh1809cl/ReShade_Repository  of older Reshade releases - this is the last release that allows you to enable Vulkan gloabally which is what you must do to get Reshade to work with the Vulkan wrapper.  Run the exe, point it at the Steel Beasts exe, install all the shaders, fiddle around in game until you get the look you want

Thanks, this is working perfect! Much better performance with so far no downsides. Sadly with the vulkan api the nvidia antialiasing settings wont work anymore. Before i used Sparsegrid supersampling. But i found a setting in the dxvk.conf that delivers the same quality aa wise. You can download the example .conf file from git hub and activate these lines:

d3d9.forceSampleRateShading = True

d3d9.forceSwapchainMSAA = 4

In the second line you define the MSAA samples, don't change the ingame slider after you've set this. I've set mine ingame to the same as in the config file. Be aware, this is very gpu demanding, but delivers great image quality!

I tried this mod and installed to the letter, but anytime I enter a battle, it loads and I can see my tank from behind and 2s later it CTDs. I have it running on the 2.3 version.

I am running windows 11 on an Nvidia 2070 RTX and most current drivers. I also have 32GB of ripjaw Gskill memory.
