Low end pc

Recommended Posts

Hello I'm new here, I don't have the game yet but I'm here as a wannabebuyer. I'm a civilian intersted in tanks and in military stuff in general. The last two years i played war thunder on and off, but going progressively into the game I found myself sick of the endless grind the monotony of the gameplay so I began looking for something else to spend my money on. Right now i'm enjoying steel armor blaze of war and I was looking also to SB, watching gameplays etc, the simulator looks fantastic to me but I'm not sure if I can run this game given i have a low end pc. My rig is pretty old, i have an i5 7400, and recently updated to 16 gb ddr4 and changed the video card to an rx 6400 wich isn't very powerful. Looking on the internet I didn't understand quite well the requirements, so I would like to know if I could play decently the game with my pc before buying it. Thanks in advance

Well what you can do is buy the 1 month license

And try it out

You can modifiy GFX settings in game

and because the code is "old" SB is rather forgiving of older hardware.

Kind of why the 1 month license exists

I play on a 5500 and 1650, so CPU advantage but slight GPU disadvantage. Ran just fine with 16Gb DDR4. I think I'm probably GPU limited because effects like smoke is the real FPS killer.

I'd give the 1 month trial a try and just see. Turn down the settings, though.

...but that's not going to be a problem for the recommended scale of scenarios, reinforced company and below.

I think you'll do fine with your machine. You may need to compromise here and there with some graphics settings, but I don't think you'd have to forfeit crucial elements like shadowcasting. You can at any time in a game activate the framerate counter and open the graphics and detail settings (Alt+G, Alt+D) and experiment the settings to find the optimal balance between framerate and visual quality.

The biggest difference will be, IMO, the tactical depth you'll be exposed to coming from a title like War Thunder which, this may reflect my ignorance - looks to me like an egoshooter on tracks where you'll win through fast movement, rapid change of positions, and good reflexes in gunnery. That'll help you in Steel Beasts too. But the bigger challenge is to coordinate all the different units at your disposal so that they have an effect in a synchronized fashion. Hard to pull off with consistency, but beautiful when it works.

In multiplayer sessions, it's all about the team effort. You win together, or you lose individually and as a team.

Give it a try. The one-month license doesn't cost that much, and having invested the ten bucks might motivate you to try one more time if things don't immediately work out. At the same time, a full month gives you ample opportunity to learn about the good things and the bad, so you will know with confidence if Steel Beasts is the game for you (which I hope, of course).

Please don't hesitate to ask for advice.

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to buy the license as soon I have time to play to not waste the month, for the bottleneck I was thinking of changing my cpu with an i3 12th gen and also the motherboard to a new one with pcie 4.0 to make best use of the gpu.

I agree that war thunder is more an ego shooter than a "realistic" game, what makes it attractive is the amount of well reproduced vehicles you can play, but as I said the grind is almost endless and the gameplay repetitive and frustrating, it's pratically designed to hook people and make them spend as much money as possible into he game, just like every MMO

The 12100F is pretty excellent for the price. It outperforms my 5500 in single-core stuff by far. It should be adequate for a nice enough experience on the cheap.

@Arch on what level of graphic detail do you play with the 1650? Medium or low? Just curious cause the rx6400 is pretty similar in performance, personally it would be a bit of a turn off for me playing at low.

Low with some viewdistance things on the mid-point. FWIW I upgraded to RX6700 and did not get a massive boost at 1080p to now.
