fratricide prevention planning

He he he ... the AI didn't say "but that looks like a friendly"?!

One of my favorite AI fracticide scenes is to pop your uboat's periscope up in the middle of a circle of escorts. They all open up with MGs and cannons while very often shooting the cr*p out of each other. (This is in broad day light on calm seas.)

I suppose that's a video game.

TOW 2B has a magnetic influence/altimeter pair that fires the warhead when passing over a ferrous target. Had the Bradley been using direct impact TOW 2 or TOW 2A I think there wouldn't have been a fratricide there.

But the co should be aware of the issue of fusing and overhead fire and re-arranged the engagement area accordingly.

Even then the missile flight path actually is a corridor that needs a fair bit of clear space left and right. Overshooting own troops with guided missiles never is a good idea. It's better to concentrate the missile shooters in one sector and the guns in another, or to have both battlepositions placed in somewhat linear fashion.

There's lots of factors to be considered in real life. SB Pro must simplify, but we're not deliberately dumbing down things. :)
