Steel_Hamster
I use XP.And I've tried updating the software for the stick and checked the licenses in Web Admin. They are correct. So what I know is, the computer finds the stick and I can examine it. I just can't start SB with it.
Administrators Sean Posted September 8, 2010 Administrators Share Posted September 8, 2010 Can you explain what you are seeing? I don't understand how you can "update" the license again on the codemeter website because I thought the purchase will only allow you to update it once - once its updated its done. Which licenses can you see in the webmin? What are their IDs? If they are correct, we are left with a firewall problem blocking the port. SB uses the network to connect to the stick locally.
Members Ssnake
It really seems to be a CM specific/PC configuration issue, so I stand by my recommendation to contact Support@CodeMeter.com. Please run the CmDUST utility first (with the stick plugged in) and attach the log file to your email.Blinking a few times on insertion is quite normal. Only if it doesn't stop blinking and repeats the same pattern over and over again it is reason for concern.
GH_Lieste
I sent the CM stick to Nils and it was ok. Got I back today and reinstalled SB and updated the licence again but I still can't get the thing to work. The stick still blinks orange when it's inserted and the error about the USB port is still there. I have tried all the USB ports with the stick and also MP3-players, memory sticks and so on to be on the safe side. There is nothing wrong with the USB ports.Any ideas?USB is not always as good as it should be... CM requires fairly good ports to work and a lot of cheap motherboards have poor (non-compliant) USB implementations.I have much more stable USB services since installing a PCI USB2.0 card into my (now verrrrry old) PC. It is worth trying as these expansion cards are inexpensive, and at the minimum give an additional 4 dedicated USB ports - possibly transforming the speed and stability of your USB devices at the best.

Homer
When you updated the codemeter software, did you uninstall the previous version and reboot before installing the newer version?
Gibsonm
By the way 4.20b is now out.Not sure if that specifically fixes anything or not.
Steel_Hamster
When you updated the codemeter software, did you uninstall the previous version and reboot before installing the newer version?I think I only updated.PS. All my USB ports are powered 2.0 and nearly mint. The new Codemeter software didn't make any difference. DS.
Homer
Give it a try because it has fixed problems like this in the past.
Steel_Hamster
Got a reply from Daniel at Codemeter. He thought my SB-license was the problem. I sent him a new eventlog to verify this. I feel a bit like the jealous kid down the street watching all the others play with their shiny new toys.
Members Ssnake
As a GENERAL ADVICE TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS I would like to advise everybody to upgrade their CM stick's firmware. The latest firmware is version 1.15. You can check it by right-clicking the CodeMeter tray icon and then selecting "Show" (the first menu entry). This opens the CodeMeter Control Center. On the right side you will see three icons - a pen, a lightbulb, and a circular error. Click this (and follow the on-screen instructions) to update your firmware. To the left of that circular arrow you can see the current firmware.Apparently quite a number of problems that have been reported lately can be solved by doing this.
Steel_Hamster
Daniel at Codemeter confirmed that I have a nonfunctioning license. Anyone else with this problem?
Quagmire
Daniel at Codemeter confirmed that I have a nonfunctioning license. Anyone else with this problem?Reading through this thread I seem to be suffering with the same problems as you. The CM stick flashes green/orange but when I do get to launch SB it often crashes out within 45 minutes with the 'USB not connected' error message.I've been in contact with Codemeter support for the last 3-weeks or so and so far they can't figure out what the problem is. I wonder if it's the licence too?I'm emailing them again today and I'll mention it. This only started with 2.538 and the new licence...Q
Administrators Sean Posted September 20, 2010 Administrators Share Posted September 20, 2010 It works for 45 minutes? Try a different USB port, preferably one of the ones on the back of the computer.
Quagmire
Hi Sean,The laptop has 6 USB ports, and I get the error regardless of the port it's plugged into. Sometimes it takes longer for the error to appear, but generally it's less than an hour.Q
Administrators Sean Posted September 20, 2010 Administrators Share Posted September 20, 2010 It's not a invalid license. If it works for 45 minutes, that wouldn't be it.
sabot_ready
A similar thing is happening to me also Sean...time wise...except instead of my codemeter going wonky...the error just says that SBcm.exe has crashed...I get weird graphic problems before the crashes...gun barrels pointing in strange directions...some not even scanning for targets. moving in formation seems un-natural....units keep slamming on their breaks and then race to catch up...stutter stop.......Have not been able to play a full session since buying it :decu: Hope there is a patch soon!
Administrators Sean Posted September 21, 2010 Administrators Share Posted September 21, 2010 Your problem sounds like a computer hardware problem sabot. Open the computer up and carefully clean out the cpu heatsink and graphics card heatsink of dust and dirt.
Steel_Hamster
Problem solved. Seems someone had already activated my license before I got it. Everything is alright now. Big thanks to Nils, Daniel and Chuck!

The CM stick flashes green/orange but when I do get to launch SB it often crashes out within 45 minutes with the 'USB not connected' error message.[snip]This only started with 2.538 and the new licence...QSame thing. I have updated to latest codemeter firmware and software. Sometimes it runs for a while, with no issues, then crashes with the dreaded no codemeter stick connected, please check... Other times, that message appears when attempting to launch. Regardless of which USB port of several that try. Never had any codemeter problems at all until this upgrade and patch. Really disappointing and frustrating, and killing off our MP sessions.
Members Ssnake
I can but recommend contacting CodeMeter support for troubleshooting and advice. Feel free to CC me in your emails, I might be learning something from it as well.

Feel free to CC me in your emails, I might be learning something from it as well. OK. Still, I'd think if this has happened to several of us only since the upgrade purchase and installation eSim would want to investigate and solve. In any case, I am hoping it is solvable! GH_Lieste
Have you tried using a powered hub (plug into one of the main USB ports, not an extension) and then plug only the Codemeter into it?Remove other USB devices that aren't needed while in game - printers, scanners, USB key drives or 'back-up/storage' external USB HDD, MP3 players mobile phone chargers, desktop toys etc.If it works reliably now then either the motherboard USB implementation is substandard (very common from what I understand) or one of these other devices is using too much current and leaving the other devices under-powered.You might see some minor improvement with a high quality add-in USB card - I know that it cured some issues I was having with my printer and scanner being cooperative with each other.
