PRO PE & ATI Cat 8.1

Recommended Posts

Installed 8.1 & now I get a General Application Error when I start SB PRO PE.

Says switching to reference rasterizer but the game will not render.

Anyone else have a problem with 8.1?

Runs fine here with 8.1.

Maybe setting your video card settings to default will help?

Try running some other 3D applications as well to see if you have the same problem (might be an inproper install) - I've had the same problems with my old card after a catalyst update.

ATI's driver uninstall/update/install softwares are the shittiest in the world - IMO.

Card is an older 9500 pro - other 3d apps work fine.

I rolled back the driver & everything works ok.

I normally do the uninstall myself through control panel but this time I was lazy & let the ati software do it.

I'm off tomorrow so I'll try doing the unistall myself.

Thanks for the replys

One thing you may want to check is your motherboard drivers. The old Nforce 2 drivers for my DFI board wouldn't play nice with either ATI's or Nvidia's current driver sets, but since I dug up a newer GART driver it's all goodness and light now.
