TIGER ACTUAL meeting with APACHE ACTUAL north of Bückeburg, 0600hrs. BRUN, these are your orders!

"Captain,

The main body of the enemy 1st echelon Motor Rifle Regiment (BMP) is now moving towards Stadthagen. We believe that the pursuing battalion you met here earlier was indeed the forward element of the said regiment, and they did not have a clue about us being here. Add to that the deadly MLRS bombardment at their LOD, the fwd battalion was caught here alone. The 2nd echelon regiments (BTR) and the tank regiment are still in transit, and delayed by the roads clogged with destroyed NATO columns, so we have a real opportunity here to give the Ruskie a bloody nose. Once the 2nd echelon arrives in the AO, we are in a world of hurt, if the 1st echelon manages to push us too far back and consolidate...

3rd ACR will arrogantly pursue this opportunity, by conducting a two stage delaying action from Stadthagen to Klus...

1st Squadron will push forward as soon as possible to establish contact with the 1st echelon. The plan is to stop the regiment from completing its mission, which is securing a safe LOD (presumeably Bückeburg-Klus -area) for the Division 2nd echelon to attack Minden. After establishing contact, 1st SQN will delay and attrit the regiment, not letting it past HELPSEN. This allows 3rd SQN enough time to deploy good defenses behind us, so they can prepare to take on the 2nd Echelon.

3rd ACR CO intent is to:

1) With 1st SQN to take contact with the enemy main attack, delay and attrit. 1st SQN is to withdraw south out of 3rd SQN's engagement area via A) Obernkirchen - Buchholz -road, or B) Ahnsen - Bad Eilsen - Heessen -road.

2) Stop the enemy main attack momentarily at Bückeburg with 3rd SQN. Delay as long as possible and withdraw no further east than Berenbusch - Strahn -line.

3) With resupplied 1st SQN, continue the attack to enemy left flank along the E30.

During all this, 2nd SQN is to advance to Feuerschicht - Raderhorst -line and hold the northern flank.

The Big Red One is moving our way and should arrive in the AO with its first elements in 24-48 hours. 3rd ACR will delay and attrit the enemy main attack for as long as the Division is in the area and takes the responsibility over the defense here.

OK, so enough of the big picture, here's the beef:

1st SQN will conduct the movement to contact as follows:

D Coy (full strenght) will attack along the main rail line towards Stadthagen. A Troop (-) is to screen the left flank and B Troop the right. Boundaries are: to the left, the canal, and to the right the town of Nienstädt. D Coy will set the pace.

First up we need to mop up the remainings of the enemy Bn around Meinsen. Then we will use best speed to reach line "Bazooka", from where we establish contact with 1st echelon units, and start the delay. We withdraw under pressure no farther than line "Animal", and prepare to withdraw south, supported by C Troop.

We need to be thorough in the mopping up operation, as any enemy units left behind will cause a lot of trouble when we come backwards to "Animal". When moving forwards, move from BP to BP, so whenever we encounter the enemy main force, we are ready in good position, and can start the movement backwards in bounds. Do NOT get caught in the open, dead ground!

We got the support of the KING battery, D Coy has first priority of fires, then B, then A. We got pleanty of ammo, so don't hesitate to call in fires whenever needed!

I will be trailing D Coy and coordinating the attack (with unit CO/A, representing SQN CO).

Prepare to move out, D Coy will start the attack NLT 0615hrs!"

In this mission I will take CO/A and hence gain control of the B and D units. XO/A (M1A1) represents APACHE actual in this one, and "XO vehicle" is inside 1/A - the M3 BFV. The visibility is 3500m, enemy air activity is limited due to our air offensive in the sector. There should not be too many CAS elements, but beware of any shot down planes dropping on your tank deck!

THE SCENARIO IS PLAYED 30th JAN, 1800hrs GMT. Be there!

ACR CO intent:

Oh good, means I can make that one, I shall pull my old box out of the cupboard and get it running again.

So, are we getting Buccaneer support or maybe F-111 Voodoos?

Or just a few BAe Lightings tearing up the sky at 10,000ft?

Well each playable vehicle has an “observer” mode (that lets you “watch but not touch”) and if they allow people other than the dedicated commander to “enter” the vehicle you could conceivably jump from Observer station to Observer station.

But I’m not running it.

Or perhaps they could put you in a HMMWV on point (where you couldn’t hurt anyone else and the smoke from your vehicle would at least tell those following you that something bad is definitely nearby)? :)

Is there a way that I can observed the battle? Don't wont to screwup the battle by having a rookie going the wrong way and getting shotup by the enemy or by the players :) Or do you want a rookie to play?

JohnO

I'll break off one of the ten M3A2's. You can use it to provide security for the quartermaster Kingtiger. You would hang out with the cargo trucks and the m88 recovery vehicle and provide security at the Logistical Resuply Points. You would also escort the m88 if it is sent out to recover any vehicles. Basicly keep Yourself between the enemy and The quartermasters units. Chances are you may not take fire or give it, but anything can happen.

Reading the orders for the next battle and have a few questions.

First, 1SQN is south of 3SQN and 2SQN is north of 3SQN. Looking at the map, why is 1SQN conducting a movement to contact in 3SQN AO? Zip has DCoy attacking towards Stadthagen, while A Troop is to screen to the left flank with the canal as its boundary, B Troop right flank with the town of Nienstadt as its right flank boundary. Neither of them is in the 1SQN AO during the movement to contact (looking at the map that was posted). I'm trying to catchup on this mission, at least I'm reading it :-)

Hola JohnO!

We are conducting the hasty delay in our current, and FUTURE 3rd SQN AOR. 3rd SQN is not yet deployed where the pic says they will be, so we need to stall the enemy, win 3rd SQN time and then shift our focus southwards.

Welcome aboard on sunday!

Well your stuff will be near Kingtigers stuff in or near the LRP's so you will also benefit from JohnO's protection. If you end up having to get line of sight on the enemy to call fire or if Your movments take you dangerously close to the enemy then He would escort you and provide cover. Being a Delaying action or fighting retreat JohnO would also provide cover by fire for You and Kingtiger as you bound back.

:gun:
