Beta Map for a tryout.

Drop the contents of the zip file in your terrasim-terrastan folder which will be located in your maps folder. Don't forget to back up your desert folder as I have made some changes with trees and shrubbery and walls. This is not the desert folder in your mods folder but the one in the terrasim-terrastan folder. This map was built on the terrastan map with the addition of buildings and such. The sandbags at the outpost are the ISO container if you do not have this I will post an attachment. Place this in your mods folder in desert. Give me some feedback.

Thanks Wil,

It is a fairly small map but with some interesting scenery, I have since added a river and some other features I will post an update in the near future.

Had a quick look at it. Giving you my personal honest opinion. Nice looking map. But am not a huge fan of terrasim map. The scenery clutter is an huge hit on framerates. Even with my GTX580. Though I have forced AA and AF on in my settings. Loading time is still long with terramaps. Even on your small map. For the armour moving around the village wich is surrounded with lots of small walls is a pain. Carefull planning for AI armour is a must here. They can cross the small walls, that is destroy it and move on. Hasty attacks not possible. Conclusion is I prefer the default maps wich are more playable, thus more fun.

The two biggest problems with the Terrastan map are that infantry can't properly navigate it, and that the houses do not yet offer protection, only concealment. Both issues shall be addressed as soon as possible.

Loading times - can't change that, as all artificial terrain elements must be loaded separately and aren't part of the SB Pro object library. Frame rate - can't change that, it's the nature of a complex village. In conclusion, these two issues only time can heal, as hardware gets faster (e.g. with an SSD the map loading time can be minimized, and faster graphics cards will eventually be able to handle the complex scenery better).

Still, once that the pathfinding works and once that the walls stop bullets, this will be the best possible map for most urban combat scenarios, and as such offer a rather unique option. It still may not be "fun" to fight there, but fun isn't a part of the word "combat" anyway. ;)

The M2/3 looks very nice. I like the weathering overal and around the nuts and bolts: nice details.

Thanks Wicked,

Here it is give it a try. Ive included the turret roof top also, it was a chore cause some of the uv mapping comes from the vehicle also but I'm happy with the results. Let me know what you think after the test drive.
