Members Ssnake
Today's featured new feature is the Scenario Debugger, which is a new element for the mission editor. I'll post a few screenshots later, and the beta testers are invited to chime in and tell more about it.Basically it's a floating window which shows all kinds of information while you run a scenario in test mode, e.g. the random variables, which side currently owns a contested region, what the status of global events and conditions is, etc.In short, it should help you mission designers a lot to find out why a certain unit isn't doing what you want it to do, or what the background of some arcane functions is like determining the combat value of an assorted hodge-podge of stragglers and survivors that attempt to capture that darn region which will net you the urgently needed 500 victory points.IMO, this may actually be the most important new feature addition to SB Pro PE 2.6, at least for everybody who spends time on scenario development. It may not be the coolest thing since sliced bread, but it has the potential to cut scenario development time by 50% or more, simply because you need fewer test run iterations.:sonic:

Tacbat
Yes, from what Ssnake said, this is a very useful tool in the development of a scenario. Toyguy will have to make another video on just this alone. It'll show you all of your events, conditions, scoring and region settings and tells you which ones were tripped. It will also list the values for the random variables, so that's good to know as well. If I may be so bold as to say it, this gem will make you wonder how you got along without it in the first place. So if you're still looking for a reason to grab this update, this would be it.
JohnO
I can't wait to use this, guess I will slow down building my scenario and wait for this

CalAB
Awesome news. I wonder how this will play into the next scenario contest. Maybe a new contest to coincide with the release of the upgrade?
DrDevice
Absolutely great! Certainly makes testing easier. So many times, I used fixed variables to test, then set randoms to finish. Let alone the arcane magic that is "who has more combat power in region X"Excellent news!
companyteam
Agree wholeheartedly! Nothing worse than trying to figure out which of your multiple events/conditions didn't work and why. Can't wait to see this!
Administrators Sean Posted November 17, 2011 Administrators Share Posted November 17, 2011 As a scenario designer, I can tell you this thing is the best thing since sliced bread! I've wasted many hours in the scenario editor trying to figure wtf I just did with the scoring, but no more!
TankHunter
I am definitely looking forward to this feature. This is going to be the best update since the software came out by far.
Gibsonm
Yes indeed. Hopefully its well documented though so I know what I'm looking at.
Scrapper_511
Awesome. I'm spending more and more time creating and experimenting a scenario than actually riding in a tank. I'm finding it equally fun as a wargame.

Members Ssnake
Here are two screenshots of the mission debugger to illustrate what I wrote before. Here the button to show the random variables X1...X63 (but of course not XNew): The other image shows a score and its sub scores:
GH_Lieste
Is it intentional that the current total doesn't agree to the breakdown on the scoring screen?ie 55.56/500 vs 100 of 900? It is the same ratio however.
Members Ssnake
It's probably showing the scaled score.
