fidelthefallguy
hi all.I have set SB and codemeter to run on a win7 vbox under ubuntu 12.04, but after testing a few settings I have broken SBProPE. It was runing the range at 24fpsI set an invalid display size via SB now it will no longer start up.I have tried a reinstall of SB but no change.I am looking to undo the 'change' that has caused SP to fail. Can some one please tell me where I can access the saved values for the display options in windows 7? Thanks
Gibsonm
A guess:C:\Users\Insert your name here\AppData\Roaming\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\options
Dr.Thodt
I have 2 binary files in this folder. I don't think this will help much!?
fidelthefallguy
same here, I can not edit them, and removing the file has no inpact on SB. SB does not recreate the file if its not there. is there any other place I can get to these settings?I did noticce that the time stamp on that file was from before I reinstalled though so I'm guessing its created only if its not found at install time, so I will delete it and try installing again.
Members Retro
Do you get an error message box on startup?SB falls back to the (ancient) options.dat in the "misc" subfolder of its installation location, but that file should (in theory) be good enough to get you into the UI so you can reapply your settings. Is there anything in the "my documents\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\logs" folder?
fidelthefallguy
no error. it just gets to the point where it would normaly jump to full screen, screen goes white and then process dies.wait out on the logs, have to get home and see.
Gibsonm
and removing the file has no inpact on SB. SB does not recreate the file if its not there.Ah that was my hope (albeit misplaced).
Members Ssnake
Deleting the Options.dat file would usually do the trick. If it doesn't, I have no immediate other idea what to do. Hmmm...
Members Ssnake
Actually, the location of the Options file (under Win7) isC:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\optionsNot the program folder!
Gibsonm
Agreed,Which is what I thought I said:A guess:C:\Users\Insert your name here\AppData\Roaming\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\options
Members Ssnake
I just wanted to clarify Retro's post. Yes, you were there first.
Members Retro
err..SB falls back to the (ancient) options.dat in the "misc" subfolder of its installation locationSo if you delete the one in your users folder (which takes precedence), SB uses the one in the program folder to bootsrap itself..
fidelthefallguy
I ended up just removing the vbox disk and starting over. it works again. But this time I'm only gettinh 9 fps I will keep messing and if I get it playable I will post up. SB is my only reason for having windows at all. if I can get this to work I no longer need a dule boot system.
Members Ssnake
So if you delete the one in your users folder (which takes precedence), SB uses the one in the program folder to bootsrap itself..Funny. I made a complete harddisk search for Options.dat and the only place where I found it was in the user's directory, not as a part of the program folder. Hmmmm...
