Well I'm back from my holiday :(

and as promised here's a few pics from the exhibition,

but I was only there for one day so I didn't take as many as I would normally do.

So we're kick off with a couple of general shots of the layout of the stand, at the table we have Nils, Ed, Al, and Lukas.

Here we have Ed with his game face on.

The AFV Sim equipment on the stand this year was a gunner handle for the CV90/35.

And a LEO2 gunner handle.

While I was there a Captain and a Major from the Royal Armoured Corps

showed an interest.

This is Craig, but most of you will know him as Irish Hussar, he was there on business with his company but popped in for a chat.

Here's how Rheinmetall showed off some of their kit.

Hopefully the headsets were to hear the "in game" sounds, not due to noisy neighbours?

More to demonstrate the CNR Sim/CNR Log integration.

It was surprisingly quiet this year, actually. We feared the worst with Raydon setting up a cal .50 gunnery simulator right next to us, but either they didn't make a live demonstration or they had the common sense to switch off the sound.

:)

Or maybe our feedback to the organizers actually made a difference, who knows.

:cul:

Meh.

If your training objective is that gunners habitually take their eyes off the sights to fiddle with buttons, touchscreens are a good choice. On the other hand, if you want to do it cheap, then do it really cheap with a desktop trainer. Otherwise use a container with full instrumentation. Anything in between is chickenshit.

Nice, maybe we should hire booth-babes next time. :diable:

Thanks for the pictures. I hope our ugly mugs didn't break your camera.

Don't worry Ed, my camera has survived far uglier people :eek2:

It was good to meet up with old friends and make new ones,

I hope you enjoyed the ITEC experience :)

I guess it's only fair to summarize what we've been showing - basically, we now have more than just two parties per scenario, with e.g. Green and Purple being neutral to everybody. You can have unarmed noncombatants and irregular fighters. And Grannies with RPGs (I can already see where this is going to be heading...). You can have some units navigate autonomously, either road-bound or off-road. You can have civilian-looking irregular fighters that may carry a concealed weapon until a certain condition is true, and who may conceal it again later on some other condition.

You can now script mounting and dismounting of troops. You can now script recovery vehicles to tow away immobilized units without direct human interference.

:)

We use this in a couple of our computer simulations: individual civilians and crowds, civ vehicles, insurgents, guised insurgents and so forth. Adds a very interesting dimension to the scenarios!
