Red Tide '85 - Message to BLUEFOR

Please check you facts before making allegations.

I was required to "step up" and the people who told me that "promoted" you, not me.

Your beef on that front is with "them" not me.

Oh, so the overall C.O of Blue doesn't chose his batallion commanders? If you say so.

You were not 'required' to step up. (This is not the RL military, although I know from online experience with with you that you have difficulty separating the two). You volunteered.

I have no idea who the 'they'' you refer to are. But perhaps 'they' can now sort out your problem for you.

Alright alright, everyone calm down and take a deep breath. Gibson is just trying to square away his chain of command which I know can be a frustrating task, and of course we all volunteered to do this campaign for fun. No need for anyone to get snippy, you all still have the actual enemy (OPFOR) to fight. Save it for the enemy! ;)

OK draws breath and counts to ten slowly.

Um no Volcano asked people to nominate for slots:

Yes I volunteered because Volcano was getting no one to take the poisoned challice.

That left a gap in the chain of command and you were promoted (I wasn't asked, I didn't nominate, I didn't say anything for or against - I went with the decision that was made).

I suspect that if you were uncomfortable with that, then was your opportunity to request to be "relieved".

No I'm a big boy and will accept the responsibility.

Marko - you are temporarily promoted to UK contingent commander and will assume the appointments as tasked in earlier PMs.

Please provide your ammended succession plan NLT H-60 for TGIF.

More than happy for Tjay to keep going but he can't be in your succession plan since he has no interest in the role that may come his way.

Will confirm via PM.

Volcano,

Sorry if this is causing you hassle - I know you have better things to do.

Looking back through the thread I see that I volunteered for 'Any slot in the UK Batallion'. But it did not occur to me for a moment that I would find myself in the C.O slot. When I did, I advised Gibson that this was well above my level, (as he well knows, bearing in mind the short time I have been playing the game) thinking that he would do whatever was necessary to resolve the situation. Apologies for that assumption.

I will turn up for as many events as I can and will accept any position up to and including company commander, although I would be most content with TC or Platoon Commander. But I'm sure Marko and I can sort that out between us.:)

This isn't causing me a hassle, I am just asking for BLUEFOR to take a deep breath and remain calm. I just want you guys to still have some fight left by the time you all actually face the OPFOR. :)

Nyet, let 'em duke it out among themselves. All the better for us, comrade!! :sonic:

My pulse remains at its resting rate. My blood pressure hasn't flickered. I am ready. :)

Pincer,

Now see what you've done - upset MG. Easily done though. :)

Thanks for your offer to replace Marko if he drops or doesn't get up. Accepted.

What we don't know at the moment is who the C.O and 2 i/c will be. If Hedge accepts C.O I will understudy him as 2 i/c.

If Hedge drops - as he is prone to do - and I step up to C.O, I'd be grateful if you could replace me as 2 i/c. If I end up as C.O from the start I will need you as my 2 i/c, in which case Marko just won't have a deputy - there aren't enough of us.

I'm sure 'It'll be alright on the night'. :diable:

Well my intention was not to upset either one of you. It's probably just difficult with you two having different but equally viable views on the subject.

Hope it settles and my status is the same, XO if someone from command needs me to do. ;)

Just make this clear:

I am in no way taking in position which involves reading a number of emails saying "I want to do this" or "No i think we need to do that" etc etc etc.

So, I don't mind taking "Field promotions" but I'm not making decisions outside the battles.

All I want to do is turn up and fight the Communists.

So its 18:00 in the UK right now and as a mere 'player' I have absolutely no idea what units or vehicles are being fielded by BlueFor - or anything else for that matter. So no chance to brush up on turret drills etc during the evening. This does not really encourage me to get up at 0230 in the morning.

Is there no way some limited information can be released without prejudicing security?

The final orbat hasn't been decided yet. Also the recon battle orbat is out of our control.
