Challenger 2 Colour pics?

KT,

I am very impressed.

I noticed on the current download that there isn't a turret file. I know its eye candy and not critical on the "green" version but will look a bit strange on the desert, BATUS and Warminster versions.

Not that I am sure you are busy enough already.

I am very impressed, pleased with your work. I can feel a change in skin coming on again!

Will be fixed, thanks to Dejawolf

The Warminster scheme is excellent. I dont know if you want to include it but it was traditional for A Squadron 1st RTR to have tanks named for the latter A. Cant speak for Charlies ride, but at least one of them was called 'Argyll'. I can perhaps find out some of the other names if its of any use.

Ive a couple of pictures I can probably scan from the Concord book on Challenger2. Nothing very much to it really, if the gun barrel is 0 degrees, the apex of the 2 lines is somewhere in the centre of the turret, with the 2 lines extend at about 11 o clock and 1 o clock when looking forward. The black number would usually be repeated on the first skirts at the front.

Keep up the great work. :)

Would depend on where the name is positioned? if its on the hull there is on use (its mirrored) or I have to put it on the turret, wich works just as well.

Im working my ass of here :P

I wont upload anything untill all is finished, so it comes in one big pack... with turret roof as well.

thank you tacbat :)

God save the Queen or what you guys says :P

I seem to recall the name is always painted on the hull, but I think as you are already using artistic licence, it hardly matters if it goes on the turret instead.

Of course, with the desert skin it would be nice to have one with all the paint peeling off as really happened during Telic.... (runs for cover)

and agreed, you are working your ass off. :)

Sorry? did the paint fall of the tanks during operation Telic???

Yes, it eroded pretty badly, particularly on areas at the top where boots scuffed it. Im not quite sure why, perhaps the paint wasnt as good as that in 1991 (which seemed in pretty good condition at the end), or perhaps that combat operations lasted longer than in 1991, and they didnt have time to use the Halfords touch up paint.

If you want, I can point you to the MOD website, and you can see some of the paint almost looks as bad as that on Iraqi T72s.

Mine was AJAX. The others in the Tp were ACE and AGGRESSIVE. They are usually on the skirting plates hence would be difficult to do.

There was an 1998 issue of military modelling that showed them by the red handle (assume this was the fire extinguisher?), but at that time the skirting plates were not much fitted. That changed later on, I heard because some of the top brass didnt like to see the vehicles completely covered in mud, so it makes sense to paint in on the plates, to make sure they keep them fitted!

Here is a couple of photos. It appears that it mainly occured on upper surfaces, ones that would have been covered in anti slip.

And a Batus Challenger2, this one in green and black instead of the yellow.

Irish, Scottish, Welsh lasses. The British are rife with cute women.

The real reason that the US threw in with the UK during WWI and WWII was the women.

Shot

I've got to agree with you Shot, after all I've been married to one for the last twenty one years :)

when all are done I will. so it will be Batus + warminster + desert + roof for those 3.

But right now its moving slow, spending most of my free time to learn 3D max (think deja is trying to learn me do models so I can slave for hime :P)

So it takes some more time...

but yes I will sooner or later :)

OK as I have bumped into to much real life time takers Ive been forced to slow down the work on the lovly CR2. what ive managed to finish is the desert version so its uploaded here:

KT,

Forgot to ask but are you doing the BATUS and Warminster paint jobs for the CV9040B aswell to compliment?

Can do, they are pretty fast to do, (like 1 ewening) but I wont have time untill weekend.

Im thinking of taking a looong break from the roof texture and release the finished stuff as a pack and update the pack later on with the roof texture when I manage to finish it.

The batus Warriors, do they have the white lines on the turrets as the CR2s?

and callsigns plates, identical to CR2s? (batus and warminster)

Ive seen them with callsigns painted identical to Chally in the past, but ive not see nphotos of them with the white lines. Ill look in 'warrior company' and see if there are any good shots.
