Ludwigmeister
I am a Troop Leader with a Canadian Armoured Recconaissance Regiment - Reserves- and my CO (Commanding Officer) has shown interest in possibly buying SB PRO for use in certain training nights for the Recce SQN soldiers. What process does he (or most likely me...) have to go through to a) identify ourselves as a legitimate military organization, and b) procure the SB Pro software?

JK'ingI do go to Kingston quite a bit, could make my west to Winsor if needed
Ludwigmeister
How's that a trip up? I thought you were near Gagetown or something? Clearly Windsor is more South than that seeing has how we are more south than like 5 American states.
Tacbat
How long have you been navigating....LOL. JK'ing I guess my skills have degraded since I've been "navigating" a desk for the past little while.
Ludwigmeister
What did my fellow Canadians get nailed for at Customs with Pro PE?
Tacbat
IIRC it was 15%.
Ludwigmeister
How does it work Tacbat? They hold it at customs until you pay, or you still get it but with a customs bill? Somehow I have horrible luck when it comes to stuff like this, and I can just imagine everything going wrong...
Tacbat
When the postman arrived with the parcel, there was a Customs form attached with the extra 15%. I believe I paid it with a credit card. If I wasn't at home, then he would have left a parcel notification card detailing the extra charges. I would have then had to have gone to the post office and paid the Customs fees there.
Ludwigmeister
Great thanks. I am the kind of person who likes to konw exactly how things are supposed to work before he goes ahead with anything. I guess I'll give some of my buddies that study in the States a call and see if I can have it mailed to their Fraternity. If all else fails and I have to, I'll deal with customs and pay the extra.
Tacbat
If you have it mailed to you from the states, you won't have to pay any duties on a parcel marked as a "Gift" if the value is under $60 Cdn. If for example, the parcel is worth $100 Cdn, then you pay duties on $40.
Ludwigmeister
So lets say I use my credit card, and say its a gift for my father? But how do you mark it as "gift" in the first place? I don't recall seeing that on any online shopping / purchasing forms.
Tacbat
Sorry, that's if you have your friends in the States send it to you. Companies won't send it as a gift because it's a commercial sale.
Ludwigmeister
Yeah that makes sense. I wasn't thinking, been up for over 24 hours now, not thinkin straight about to hit up a cat nap.

Ludwigmeister
Trying to get back into a proper rythm actually. I would never be tired early in the evening (like 9) without staying up this long. I am still up by the way cause a nap will result in sleeping. Got at least 7 more hours to go. My eyes hurt!
