daskal
NTC WIP: Mog @Mogwa - woooa - how did you make it sink partially into the ground? Is there any special terrain/ground attribute you have to setup for this? Would love to use something like this in winter scenarios.

Is there any special terrain/ground attribute you have to setup for this? Would love to use something like this in winter scenarios.Check the release notes again. In the terrain theme, the "softness" parameter will now control how deep the vehicles will sink into the ground. In addition there is now a bit for "deep snow" (it may not yet be implemented in SB Pro PE, I'll have to check that; if it isn't, it'll come with the next update).
GH_Lieste
Snow is a later addition to Pro, not in the current ProPE.

Unfortunately no such thing here - only "hardness":
Tacbat
Would less "hardness" make it softer?
daskal
Would less "hardness" make it softer?Tried it no luck - guess its not implemented yet.
Members Ssnake
Well yeah, low Hardness (="softness") makes vehicles sink into the ground. At Hardness "0" the sink depth is 60cm, at Hardness "100" it's no sinking in at all, anything between is a linear transition.
Tacbat
Well yeah, low Hardness (="softness") makes vehicles sink into the ground. Can't seem to get it to work either...Vehicles on "0 hardness" terrain aren't sinking in at all.
SeanPatrick
He may have known you were there, but chances are that his behavior resulted from being unable to engage you.The maximum amount that a tank can depress its gun tube depends on how high the top of the turret is.And the maximum angle of depression determines how much a tank must expose itself when engaging defilade behind a slope.T-72's were built for speed. They're less heavy than NATO tanks because they have smaller turrets. But a small turret is sometimes a disadvantage. As was the case here. That would explain why his gun tube kept wiggling up and down. I'm imagining the conversation inside:Gunner: "Move forward a bit, I can't hit him from here!"Driver: "No way! We'll be toast!"Gunner: "Not if I hit him first!"Commander: "While you two were arguing, I called in an ICM barrage, back up!"
Members Ssnake
Vehicles on "0 hardness" terrain aren't sinking in at all.OK, like I mentioned before, this is what you can expect from the next update. I think it was implemented a few days before or after the release of 2.483 and we didn't want to add an untested feature.

I'm imagining the conversation inside:Gunner: ...Commander: "While you two were arguing, I called in an ICM barrage, back up!"In fact, rapidly backing up (oops, T-xx can't do that) would have been their best option, forcing you to break contact or to creep over the ridge in pursuit so that they might actually be abe to hit you first.
SeanPatrick
That's what I was expecting him to do. Y'know like the AI driver in my tank. Back up a little, move a few meters laterally and advance again, hopefully in a more advantageous position. Maybe I didn't wait long enough for them to vote on it .
SeanPatrick
Eventually I creeped up and got him. Unfortunately I didn't grab a screenshot of that. ...But here's EXACTLY what it looked like:

Toyguy
Grabbed a couple snaps from the Tuesday Night Tanks round this week, filling in for TGIF. You can't see the shot markers but both are from reviewing the mission afterwards. Yoohoo! Over here! Distractions can kill
