I guess the crew of your own vehicle have provided an envelope (just to ensure they are excluded from the targeting board)? :)

Um, No, I'm still waiting for that one....

Last time you hit me, standing next to you... Now,

do you accept Visa or Master?

Cake, Biscuits, Tea, Chinagraph pencils, Accurate maps and/or extra 7.62mm ammo are valid currencies.

A Working Plug in Boiling Vessel will have 2 batteries (M109) at your personal disposal.

Please be advised I have issued strict orders not to use the LRF inside wooded areas.

"Is it raining?" :eek2: :)

No, that's a safety measure introduced because the last time he did use a LRF (in this case the artillery observer binos/sight) in the woods, he plotted a mission based on the grid to a nearby tree (as opposed to the target which was some distance away).

Unfortunately he took the grid from the LRF but didn't check the range.

The resulting mission arrived "on target" (the tree next to his vehicle) resulting in the death of his crew (the basis of my sledge) and damaging his company commander's vehicle (the basis for Zipuli's comment).

Oh I know. I was parked next to Zip! :eek2:

*Sigh* Never going to go away is it?

He’s just following in the footsteps of a LONG line of area weapon specialists who can’t hit the side of a grid square.

New staff table update:

Danger Close distances if Hedge is calling it in -> 25,000m dismounted, 22,000m mounted. :)

Double if he is filling the role of a JTAC. :o

Thank you for drawing my attention to a possible ambiguity that I hadn't appreciated. I meant, of course, that Hedge could tell MG to act as his own Forward Observation Officer. Honestly!

I already am since I'm in the Swedish company (if Furia can't make it) and each company should have its own JTAC / FO.

PACKHORSE 2 certainly wont be calling for indirect fire support (or something is seriously wrong with the plan). :)

Besides Hedge and I share a bond, humping our kit back to the rally point after CRAZYHORSE had been destroyed protecting APACHE's withdrawal, getting back just in time to don our MOPP suits and see the first small mushroom cloud rise beyond the ridge to the East.

Shared adversity such as that means we can take the p*ss out of each other knowing that it is in jest, whilst the greener members of the group may think it was meant in anger. :)

Just out of curiosity, how far down the org chart do we go before we find personnel that cannot contact the FO directly for a fire mission? Or, to put it another way, who is authorized to call in a fire mission? Presumably company commanders can. Platoon commanders? Crew/Tank commanders? Just wondering...

You mean in RL or here in the Nordic BG?

Here, I'd say Platoon Commanders can ask Company Commanders for fire.

The Company Commander prioritises those requests and then asks the FO / JTAC for the fires he really wants (or at least matches the number of requests to the limited number of fire units available).

(Really I suspect that conversation rarely happens in game - with Platoon commanders engrossed in fighting their tank(s) and only the Company Commander looking at the bigger picture).

In RL of course every vehicle / section commander in our army is taught the "all arms call for fire". So in theory anyone could request it.

A CPL coming up on the Sqn net and asking for fire directly though ("20G this is 11D, Fire Mission, over") would be a fairly rare / ballsy occurrence. :)

Nordic BG. In RL, no question: every one of our recce sqn CC's was qualified to send a fire mission.

_--__[]KITT;223796']Blowing up real tanks with real tank?

I've spent 30yrs in this game and the idea of destroying real crewed tanks is hardly what I'd call "fun".

The profession of arms is a serious one.

If you think its "fun" to put a service sabot round through another vehicle with three or four souls (regardless of who they believe in) in it' date=' then personally I think you are probably unfit to wear anybody's uniform.

If you talk to people who have you'll find they did it because they [i']had to, not because they enjoyed doing it.

Most of them have sleepless nights or other symptoms of what we now call "PTSD".
