Tacbat
We had a total of 24 player participate in the first mission for OPV3. Blue: Assassin 7, Mouse, Sean, Brun, JHay, Gladiator, Optimus Prime, Duke Ricopico, LT Dan, Itkatsu, Tango29, Tacbat Red: RogueSnake, Volcano, Toyguy, Lt Default, Mog, TankHunter, 12Alfa, Connaugh, Wombat, Rotareneg, McDLT Blue lost a total of 28 vehicles, while red lost 36. Blue captured the following objectives: Bad Meinberg 100 Horn-Bad Meinberg 100 Oesterholz-Haustenbeck 300 Arms Depot 300 + Ammo Upgrade Red captured the following objectives: Heiligenkirchen 300 Hwy L937 300 Hill 250 100 Hiddesen 100 Both sides missed objectives that were close to them, but they will be able to be captured in mission 2. Starting positions: Both sides setup their recce screen, while focusing their attention to the southwest area where three objective were. Red sends in Special Ops teams to the southwest objectives, and they drop FASCAM on a main highway that knocks out two blue units and delays them sending reinforcements to the south. About half way through the battle: Both sides fight hard for the southwest objectives. Minor skirmishing continues in the center and north. End state: Both sides capture the same number of objectives, although red lost some higher value equipment. Generally speaking, it was a neutral outcome as both sides made little headway into the other side's territory.

Tacbat
Just a reminder to both CO's:Make sure you save your plan BEFORE you say you are ready. This will ensure that no one drops before the mission starts, so we won't have to go back to the assembly area.
Tacbat
Mission 2 is set for this Friday. Thanks to both CO's for getting your information in quickly this week. There will be a special side mission in the next battle:"In an effort to determine what the situation is on the ground, international forces have launched UAV platforms to survey the battlefield. Reports are that one of these UAV's has crashed somewhere close to the frontline. If recovered by either side, it may be possible to repair it, and use it to their advantage."Further details will be included in the mission briefing for the next mission.

12Alfa
This was a common issue in the desert, became a problem with helo ops when they crash on the airfields, everything usually ground to a screaming halt. why? who knows, it's a war zone after all. Then there was that time we threw or UAV into the air, to fly it out of our control, and never to be seen again....

Tacbat
Here the info on the side mission:During the last battle, our forces reported seeing a small aircraft crash in the woods. This general location is marked on the map. It is believed that this was one of the international force's UAV's. There is a good chance that if we can salvage it, we can use it to our advantage. 1/K is equipped with beacon tracking equipment, and will be able to help find the downed UAV. You will receive messages once 1/K is within 1km, 500m, and when they are at the crash site. Once found, 1/K needs to stay beside the UAV for 10 min to simulate it being loaded onto the vehicle. You will receive a final message saying when it has been loaded. After that, just keep 1/K alive, and your side will receive a special bonus. In mission 3, your side will be given a notional UAV that will provide you with surveillance of a 3km circle. It will be the CO's decision on where to put the circle on the map. Good luck with the mission!
Tango29
I've got a few more that will be seen before the conclusion of this campaign.Of that we had no doubt. Looking forward to them! :gen004:
wombat
Request:Sim start time before sunrise is ok, but too difficult to view the map in observation mode before start. Most of us have not seen the map before and because of no map updates, is very disorientating. In treacherous terrain, would it be possible to for engineers to have lane markers before start? Not everywhere, but just for a confirmation of being in the right place without GPS.Could a few landmarks be thrown in for orienteering?
Tacbat
If you look through the first page of this thread, you'll find a scenario file and large images of the map you can use to familiarise yourself with the terrain.Mission 2 will be during daylight hours.Your units start exactly where you place them during the planning phase. There are pleanty of buildings and landmarks to use already. Embrace the suck. Map updates will return in the third mission.

Lt DeFault
I'm really enjoying the campaign, thanks!I may be the only one, but I wouldn't mind if the missions continued with no map updates. Then again, that's probably because I'm the cat and not the herder.
Tacbat
Your welcome. Maybe future campaigns will be without map updates, but for now we have to get people used to the idea. Here are the boundaries for Mission 3. The map has moved a little bit to the NW: Edited February 9, 2013 by Tacbat
Tacbat
We had a total of 24 players participate in the second mission for OPV3. Blue: Assassin 7, Mouse, Sean, Brun, JHay, Gladiator, Optimus Prime, Duke, Itkatsu, Jake Peril, Tacbat Red: RogueSnake, Volcano, Toyguy, Lt Default, Mog, TankHunter, 12Alfa, Connaugh, Wombat, Rotareneg, McDLT, Dark, Dejawolf Blue lost a total of 64 vehicles, while red lost 53. Blue captured the following objectives: HWY L937 300 Fissenknick 300 Red captured the following objectives: Southern Approach 100 All objectives have now been captured. If a side maintains control of an objective, they receive 50% of its original value. Starting positions: Red had a stronger force in the north, while blue was stronger in the south. Both sides employed Special Operations forces behind enemy lines. In this mission, both sides had a chance to recover a downed UAV, but neither side was able to accomplish the side mission. About half way through the battle: A large engagement starts to form in the north with red pressing south in numbers. The center remains relatively stagnant. In the south, Blue starts pushing towards the "Southern Approach" objective in response to Red's move in the north. Red is able to get a pair of tanks in behind Blue lines and they are able to destroy a number of support vehicles. End state: Blue is able to absorb Red's attack in the north and begin to push to the west. Blue also makes headway in the southwest, making good gains. Although Blue did lose more units than Red, they made substantial territorial gains which caused the map to shift slightly to the northwest, towards Red's HQ. However, Blue must try to preserve their forces, or they run the risk of only being able to field low quality equipment as the campaign continues.
