Request : merkava skin for LEO2A5

Well, since I'm not the artist type, I really can't make one my own, but if someone would "raise the glove", I'll be happy to assist with photos of the angles required, or any other additional info (as long as it doesn't compromise field security).

Moshe.

I don't have the exact RAL or FED 595b definition on me, but I'll try to get it.

http://www.precise3d.com/warehouse/idf-merkava-mkiiid-mbt-3d-model-p-35.html?products_id=35

this guy did amazing job on creating this highly accurate 3d CAD model of MKIII BAZ, the color is also accurate' although there are some missing markings on canvas here and there.

Well, we'll have to make do with what we have :)

if anything, it resembles the MK III (still doesn't gets esim off the hook as far as it comes to modeling the Merkava for real :)) - I saw some desert skins for the Leo that with some tweaking might be a good base to work on.

I don't think we will see a merkava Modeled unless the IDF purchase SB.

great!

here is a good link to start with:

http://www.israeli-weapons.com/weapons/vehicles/tanks/merkava/MerkavaMk3.html

BTW - its a really good overall site for Israeli tanks and IFV's.

http://books.google.co.il/books?id=ldRRP_UnIjgC&pg=PA46&lpg=PA46&dq=tactical+markings+israeli&source=web&ots=-RFXTJDKZm&sig=lw3zMDMqkH-yBfdwsszrFZflOhI&hl=en#PPA44,M1

page 44 has an explanation on the tactical markings location and meaning.

if you need elaboration or additional photos just ask!

looks like a promising start!

the grainy texture should be on the sloped surfaces of the turret as well, like in here:

http://www.idf-in-scale.com/image/merkava3D_06.jpg

and the color should be a bit darker, something between humbrol 83-84 I guess:

http://www.humbrol.com/paints/all-paints/aa0922-84-mid-stone-14ml-matt-enamel-tinlet/?searchguid=2008422222653&resultspage=

it's kinda hard to capture the exact tone , especially because the paint wears and gets dirty so each tank has its own personality.

take note that the engine on the merkava is in the front, might be cool to put the vent and black soot, if it's possible:

Looks like a good start! I tried making an Israeli scenario once with Leo2A5 and CV90 dealing with a bunch of highly mobile ATGM teams, but it was hard to convince myself it was an IDF sim. The Leo2A5 works well in a pinch and the color jobs here take it close enough to be plausible. The Israeli AFVs are totally different, though, and there isn't a good counterpart in SB. That and no Hebrew voices.

I always loved the chain-and-ball head dress on the Merkava's bustle.

indeed - no IFV in the game resembles anything we have in the IDF (except for m113 and its variants, of course), however - the IDF doesn't have a real IFV and most of its heavy non tank vehicles are APC's with a limited fire capability (usually few M-240 and a 0.5 under hull system).

the NAMER might change the picture - though initially it is said to be equipped with 0.5 RCWS system only, so the problem remains mainly the infantry simulation.

The enemy itself, in some sectors, is almost exclusively Dependant on infantry forces (Lebanon, Gaza strip).

Yeah regarding the enemy infantry brings us back to the sort of a symetrical warfare that is not realy featured in sbp. The best scenerio i could think of would be the israel libanon conflict becuase this is somehat closer to conventional warfare in the sence that there are no non combatants in the conflict.

One more thing does sbp have any maps that resemble the gaze strip of the libanon scenrios?

Thank you and here are some pics if you want 'em:

Thanks a lot!:luxhello: I want the "You got owned!" pic as my avatar, but it's at 20KBs and 400x220 pixels. I already have it saved on my desktop, so how do I shrink it down enough to be uploaded? I'll keep it in my signature for now, just to have it with me.:smilelove-1: And where can I find more of those cool pics?

You own me a beer now.

I usually deal only with root beer, actually. Here's my favorite root beer:http://store.drsoda.com/hanrootbeer.html

It's the only kind I usually drink. All natural, and creamy. But still some bite to it. Just let me know if the source I linked to ships to Sweden (I'll be out for most of the day, so post as soon as you can so I can check when I get back).
