Unit Birthday - BG ANZAC

Today, 23rd of February, marks BG ANZAC's unit birthday.

The unit started with a flurry of interest from people near and far, dropped back to a core group of attendees and is now in a bit of growth period again

How many of these people stay will depend on a bunch of factors:

- Enthusiasm for the Sim

- Real World interests and constraints

- Whether BG ANZAC provides the "right" vehicle for their Steel Beasts needs (the ever popular Game Vs Sim issue).

We are further challenged by having to span four time zones (three in Aust and another in NZ covering from Zulu +8, +9:30, +10 and +12) for most of the year and in Summer five (Zulu +9, +10, +10:30, +11 and +13)*

* Some states on the Eastern seaboard have exercised their right not to move to Summer time so we currently have Zulu +10 and Zulu +11 depending on where you live (go figure).

This vast geographic/ temporal distribution, relatively low population (about 27 milion people [22 in Aust, 4.5 in NZ]) and Steel Beasts' niche market combine to mean that the unit will remain fairly small for the foreseeable future (at least if still run on the current voluntary basis).

Those that do come seem to enjoy it and I guess that is the "acid test".

I'd like to thank Ssnake and the guys at eSim for their support with the licensing and TeamSpeak channel config and also the long standing BG ANZAC guys for their guidance and at times "full and frank" feedback, this is a team activity (just like the profession of arms) and the group needs to work together to achieve the aim.

Anyway for those who have stayed the course, glad to have you on board, for those who have moved on, bon voyage.

Here's to another year of "steel on target!" :)

Then there is the birthday card with the following on the front cover: a hippopotamus, an eagle, a Golden Retriever, and two sheep.

Inside it reads:

"Hippo bird dog two ewes, hippo bird dog two ewes..."

So, "hippo bird dog" to BG ANZAC, and congratulations! :thelmuts:
