Marko
Looks like the perfect terrain to try out the PT-76.When the update arrives.
Zipuli
Images from winter theme tests. The T-72 uses the frozen swamp for manouver. The CV in the early morning before sun comes up, and afterwards with infantry trying to swim in the 1m deep snow. BTW it looks as slow and pleasant as it feels in real life. We need skis! Nils? Got 8 themes now for testing: - Summer (basic) - Spring (as summer, but greener and lighter palette) - Autumn (everything makes you sink...) - Early winter (thin ice that let's stuff through, everything is still swampy as there is no ground frost yet... suckiest theme for vehicles I guess? Some 10 cm of snow at best) - Winter frozen light snow (ground frost, snow up to 30cm, best theme for vehicles it seems. Swamps, peat bog, ice and fields carry you nice and fast) - Winter frozen deep snow (same as previous, but snow ~80cm deep... everything goes slowly due to snow... Difficult theme if you're in a hurry, otherwise not. Try the ice, it's fast.) - Lunta Perkele (Winter War, bitches. Deal with it.)
Zipuli
Playing on this map in the winter months is quite nice too... You can have up to 22 hours of darknes and few hours of some light... And during summer the sun does not go down at all...

wolfstriked
A quick question Zipuli, what is the function of the new turret looking icon in the upper right corner of some screen shots?
Zipuli
Do I smell a T-72/62 campaign in the horizon? Cold War retaliation in the north in 1980s? Against the traitorous Finns in their childish white trousers? What kind of a resistance could they possibly manage to throw against the might of the CCCP? And remember to be nice to the swedish border guards when you meet them. Oh, and don't forget the band!
Zipuli
A quick question Zipuli, what is the function of the new turret looking icon in the upper right corner of some screen shots? It's in the editor/free camera to show your facing... It's been there all the time
wolfstriked
It's in the editor/free camera to show your facing... It's been there all the time Ahh and that of course is why my non owning butt has no idea about it. Another question I have....when you have the deep snow, are all lakes frozen over and able to allow traverse by the heavier tanks? If not it would be something to just be traveling along and then poof your gone.:cul:

Another question I have....when you have the deep snow, are all lakes frozen over and able to allow traverse by the heavier tanks? If not it would be something to just be traveling along and then poof your gone.:cul: It's either "water" (stuff sinks in it) or land (replicating thick ice). Currently there is no "ice" in SB, that you could crash through ... My thin ice is basically water with white texture and thick ice is slippery land with snow on it
wolfstriked
I think I worded the question wrong. What I wanted to know has been answered though in one of your previous posts.Basically when there is snow at 10cm or less you will fall thru water spots but when snow is 30cm and above(mid to deep winter) all water is traversable from being frozen solid.

Zipuli
A lovely midday today at Suomussalmi. It's warm and sunny, but in full kit it's a bit hot. We were ordered to patrol the outskirts today to see that everything is OK and it's also good training. And keeps up the morale of the people, as they see they have nothing to worry about... except crashing into a BMP-2. We came from the west and talked to some of the locals. Ladies mostly, they seemed interested in the smoke creating manly machines we were using to f*** up their neighbourhood asphalt and lawns. The civvies were very impressed by our sprint across the street.
Zipuli
Last autumn we had a similar exercise here... Still had the old kit, but we were attached to a Leopard platoon and giving them infantry support. A lot of curious civilians watched our exercise.
Zipuli
Learn Finnish: we have this saying one uses when he is all exhausted and needs to keep on going: "Eteenpäin, sanoi mummo lumihangessa!" - Which translates: "Keep on going, said the granny in deep snow!" ...And we stood and watched her keep on going.

Zipuli
Few more, of the spring theme... Our mechanized platoon was moving dismounted from the Raate -road memorial towards the bridge, just west of it. The first squad ran across and secured the area, while 2nd covered the flanks. Just as the vehicles started to move across, a small boy came running to meet us. He had not seen any enemies here, so we gave him some chocolate from the rations and started to move out. Though better safe than sorry in this terrain!
Zipuli
Looks really good! Näyttää oikein hyvältä, miten nuo isot pensaikot/puskat? Blokkaavatko ne myös tekoälyn näkökenttää.. Muistaakseni joskus aikoinaan AI näki noista läpi :eek2: Jahka 3.0 tulee niin alkaa kyllä todellinen biistin peluu, toimii kivasti muuten biisti 3 näytön eyefinityssä.-espiAI does not see through the normal bushes placed in map editor - like I do place them. They do see through "ground clutter", which is bushes/rocks attached to a terrain tile in the theme editor... I use only shorter ground clutter in the themes, so there should be no problems with the AI seeing you, but not the other way round!

Though better safe than sorry in this terrain!I think the road sign in the first picture is wrong, if I remember my days in Finnland. I never saw this.In germany it`s one of my favourite. It means no speed limit.Do you have this in Finnland too?cheers Duke
Zipuli
Duke, we got similar when "no overtaking" (red car overtaking black car) is canceled: Yeah, the colours are not 1:1 and so on, but it's close enough and I will probably mod the signs at some point to fit Finland. Like the speed limits... SB has 50, 60, 70, 90, 110... We have 50, 60, 70, 80, 100, 120. Etc.
