Was there ever any sort of 3D after action playback the way there is in the current version?

I stumbled across this in the photo gallery:

And I notice the little player box with the option to stop at events...I remember that box quite well, but not in combination with any 3D view......?

As far as I can remember, there always was a 3D option. You just had to know to hit F1, and it wouldn't automatically transport you to the unit in question.

Looking at those screenshots and was just thinking, when I first saw shots of it on IGN over a decade ago I said to myself "wow, it looks pretty good."

I am thinking that when 3.0 is released, there will be some who will find faults with the "looks". One should remember where we came from, and enjoy what we will have soon in 3.0.

There is the future where we shall visit this again, and recall the very first SB graphics.

To see the future, we must remember the past.

I for one, am truly great full for all the effort and time that has gotten SB to where it is now in 3.0, thanks to all the fellow team members.

Yep, in another decade it will look even better. Of course whether it looks good or not isn't generally the first thing I think of when in game. :biggrin:

That's the problem with some of the players who never saw SB1, they just don't understand the progress that has been made since then, despite their perceived shortfalls of the sim.
