Map Making

Hi There

I've just managed to get my hands on quite an extensive library of DTED maps and also a key to reading where they are on the ground. My next step is to try to import one of these into SBPE with a view making a scenario/map of my local area. Is there any reference in the manuals on how to do this??

I think importing DTED files are only available in the Pro version - at least I saw an import DTED file option in the map editor of the Pro version which I cannot recall to be present in Pro PE.

But I would really be interested in those DTED files you are talking about ;)

The files are in a DT1 format if that means anything to anybody.

The DT1 file means that it is DTED Level 1 imagery. There are three available levels:

Level 0 has a post spacing of 30 arcseconds in latitude direction (ca. 900 meters)

Level 1 has a post spacing of 3 arcseconds (ca. 90 meters)

Level 2 has a post spacing of 1 arcseconds (ca. 30 meters)

So, the higher the level, the more detail it has.
