Hmm, I'm not so sure. :)

the Artillery worked in Grenny's campaign/LNOT, we had:

'murican's = Green

Germans = Blue

Artillery = Pink

....

Well, I works if you:

-give the artillery "side" an FO vehicle

-or set the authority to call strikes to "all unit types" for the artillery side

Both options where NOT chosen, so there was no way to call artillery fire.

We therefor jockeyed west to at least preserve the guns

Guys can we stay on topic please.

Lets save are aggression for the battlefield.

Last week was about setting the stage and sorting out any technical issues.

My self 12 Alfa And Brun will be meeting up this week and discussing said issues.

Once this has been done. All we have to do is focus on killing each other, virtually of course. LOL.

Any constructive comments or ideas to improve the campaign are welcome and will be Considered by both sides.

Point one.

I think were going with just Red and Blue to try to simplify things.

Point Two.

Both sides have agreed to speed up the planning phase.

Point three.

An SOP will be established in relation to pausing missions going back for somebody etc.

Or if civilians are included then they should be heading West (Or East for socialist sympathisers ) as fast as possible, limited to a handful of civilians vehicles only (say 5 max at any one time on the map) & movement limited to the major roads only.

Everyone else will more than likely have fled already or hiding in the basement/attic.

Helps tell the story. :)

But that's just my opinion.

Comrade Hedgehog is sharpening his quills as we speak.

Oh.

I thought my points were valid.

Well, Brun, as I tried to make clear in my original post, I felt (as i.c ATGM infantry assets) that we could have done better than we did. Tank Hunter (who had the C.O job dumped on him at very short notice when Crusty was unable to connect to the server) already knows that, and I'm sure doesn't mind me expressing that opinion here in a spirit of openness.

Analysis of the enemy commander is a military tradition that goes back to the dark ages, and sometimes that analysis is in error, or the enemy commander does something unexpected. No offense was intended.

This will be the last I will say of it. In the book the Soviet force had more than what we had in this. They had BRDM2s for scouting, they had BMPs (they are less useful in SB than in reality due to the nature of the AI and the terrain, but a balance of combat power could have been made, such as a handful of T-62s along with the BTRs), and the Soviets had T-72s in the book.

What we had were wheeled APCs which could not kill or neutralize tanks and were to attack against 9 tanks, TOW vehicles, well supplied artillery and buried minefields which we could not discover the extent of. As someone who enjoys making missions, I wouldn't consider making one where a Soviet force was defending against that, let alone attacking. Perhaps Brun is the reincarnation of Patton or is Mars or Ares, but I didn't see that we had many options. I had to make sure that our rear echelon assets were "safe" from a possible counter attack while making a push across a field that only mildly obstructs the LOS of the enemy, and which has almost no cover for infantry. Even without considering a possible counter attack we would still have to mount a human wave attack, across generally open country, in daylight, against a more powerful force. Realistically that means there is no chance of success.

As far as I understood it we were to "but up against" the enemy and that we did.

As I have said to both sides, it was just a opening mission to test.:heu:,

Yes ,Warsaw had much more in AFV's in the book, how ever in the first engagement they had what your side had, minus the tech's., that was a add on made to your side.

Second, this is going no where, the next mission and follow on have both sides pick their forces, I hope we can put to rest.

Changes are being made to balance to campaign.:luxhello:

Please if you have suggestions PM me, posting here has no use other than venting.:heu:

Well I would like to thank you all. Without these "arguments" I would never have found out about the word Bleat. Thank you, I now have a new word to use.

:c:

Oh btw, I have ordered the book in hardcover, looking forward to read it!

And hopefully you will be able to recognise one when you see it. Unlike, err, 'some other people'. :)

No definite date/time yet? Time is ticking away. Apols if it there but I have missed it somewhow.

This Saterday same time, same server. I haven't got Warsaw starting grids, if none by tonight we will scratch this weekend and try for next. Nato needs time to plan, wed was the deadline for grids for next planing for me.

So what was the result of the discussion?

Minimum duration?

Are we still trying for two missions back to back?

This weekend I need to be somewhere 2 hours after start time (including showed, dressed, travel time, ready for work, etc.) so if the commitment is 4 hours I need to know so I can tell people (Brun) I wont be available.

2 Missions back to back. We will launch 10 min after we start (same time as last wknd), all planning to be done before missions. There will be a gap of 1 hour max, 30 min between missions depending what happened.

Max duration for both will be 120 min, with a "call mission" no sooner than 90 min.

Trying to get both CO's on line Friday to go over some SOP's.

I'll be on TS for a couple of hours before tgif. 10 min planning is ok but. Depending on when I get info to plan this week I may not be able to get NATO members together last min for a proper brief to allow 10 min planning. But that remains to be seen.

For the future I would like to have a set time for NATO to go over the plan on.

(FRIDAY TGIF-2 Hours) will be the time. Since 10 min planning will be the rule, and no save plan feature, it is imperative that as many NATO show as possible. Come game time you should know your role and be able to replicate the map graphics of your role that You received in the NATO briefing at TGIF-2 Hours.

WP already Has a set group of guys that meet regularly, NATO does Not. Last min comers that do not attend the NATO meeting(without informing Me of such) may find themselves on the side lines for the weeks activities. A lot of info to absorb, and simply no time to explain it all, and draw it all up again single handedly in 10 min to last min arrivals. This is the position We are in so let's make it work.

Another option which worked for the ADF campaign is a "pass the parcel" approach.

There I sent the mission to sub unit commanders and they could open the mission in the editor, add their graphics and pass it on (red was password protected so secure).

Perhaps 12Alfa can send you the file, you add the NATO graphics then pass to CO Red who adds WP graphics (again both sides would need to be password protected and it would need to be forwarded promptly)?

Then when the mission is loaded on the server the graphics are already there for both sides.

Doesn't allow a lot of flexibility if you have a "bright idea" just after passing the file on but at least everybody would get the graphics.

Of course merely a suggestion. ;)

Thanks. Won't be able to be present at the planning sesion. :sad2:

That's ok. You can be someone's wingman who will know the plan, Just follow your platoon leader:ANI_DI:

In addition to the (TGIF-2hour planning session), I will be on TS for a few Hours before game time to go over it again for those that could not make the Friday session.

G'day Brun,

planning on joining NATO again this weekend (and for all of the First Clash missions hopefully), but unable to attend any of the TGIF time planning sessions / briefings. This is in the middle of my Saturday for me and I have all day sporting events that I can't change on these days. I am able to turn up early before missions, is it possible to email or pm NATO players with a map graphic and go through it 30 mins before the mission?

cheers
