hlfritz
If you can move them without setting the vehicles behind you on fire. hey, those make good 'gas fireplaces' in the winter. we did not mind it at all.
Invader ZIM
Can you guys tell if those M1's have a remote weapons station?Especially 27 seconds into the video, it looks like they have some kit lying around on their turrets in the front, but not necessarily set up yet, just my guess though.
Damian90
Yup, these M1A2SEP's have CROWS mounted, it seems that CROWS slowly becomes standard on the whole M1A2SEP fleet. And these CROWS are just in stowed position for transportation.
Invader ZIM
Thanks for the info Damian, seen the setups a lot for the desert sandboxes, but not used to seeing these tanks in green with the TUSK packages. CROWS II for reference. Seems to be the symbology from the CROWS II, crew sees another vehicles TOW going into target, hits it with machine gun using the RWS. More RWS symbology shown. Just surprised to see it in Europe.

Invader ZIM
Painting needs more weathering.. LOL, they really are sort of factory fresh crisp looking aren't they? The paint to me just screams 1984 Wonder if this would work? Or the old Display Determination '87 Reforger white.
Damian90
Well, CROWS have a really good optics, also own laser range finder, I wonder if CROWS could replace CITV in it's role. So it would be something like integrated RWS/CITV?
Invader ZIM
Well, if some of those proposed upgrades you posted showing extra large displays for the commander become reality he might be able to use the display from a crows to better identify targets with the zoom on the day camera, the laser if the other is disabled, etc.Cool possibilites

Shane
I actually like the "clean roof" look of the A2 witout the roadwheel. Lol
GreenSmoke
Wow - that brings back memories of driving the M2A2 on and off those rail cars. It looks as tight as I remember. I also remember holding my sleeping bag up behind an M1 to dry it out on one cold and wet winter field exercise. It worked really well and I was thankful that the tankers we willing to run the engine for a few minutes :-)
Damian90
@dta delta However it seems that there are attempts to find a more elegant solution than CROWS. This seems to be a technology demonstrator of ICWS cupola with remotely controlled stabilized machine gun mount, similiar to SCWS cupola for M1A1's. They probably will call it SICWS. It also seems it uses optics similiar or same as CROWS.
Invader ZIM
*drooling at Damian's photo* Imagine that commanders cupola remote weapons system with a stabilized .50cal, a standard RWS with 40mm grenade launcher operated by the loader, along with another .50cal for the gunner to use. Would be a lot of firepower for urban fighting, and a lot of magnified thermal/optical sights for situation awareness. Interesting how war experience changes a fighting vehicle.
Tjay
I wonder in which phase of the 'threat/no threat/ cycle we are. You defeat a threat. You then disarm as there is now no threat. Your weakness guarantees that a threat will soon emerge to exploit that weakness.
Invader ZIM
Good question,To me it seems there's a maintaining of the curent status quo, tons of addon kits ordered, and if something brews up somewhere, the upgrades can be shipped and added on to create a sort of fast reaction to the threat using vehicles already in the area of interest.
