tarball
I grew up in Hawai'i, on the windward side, across the bay from Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station (home to A4s, F4s and F-18s while I lived there). There is a whole system of bunkers, pill boxes and gun enplacements along ridges between my valley home and the bay on which the MCAS exists."Bunkers" lat=21.4454611023, lon=-157.822546213I always thought I had "discovered" these and spent many a weekend up there playing war/army and watching the aircraft in the flight pattern. The flight pattern brought the F-4s to my eye level (about 300-500 feet) when they turned base to final. It seems as though the forest is reclaiming these bunkers, but finding WWII relics is still very possible in Hawai'i. It interesting to live in areas where the war was "on."
