Crewable tanks DLC?

For Ssnake:

Ever tought in making crewable tanks as payware DLC? I mean, no new features or bug hunting, simply a new vehicle as crewable, the list is big even for vehicles that are already in the sim like BMP's, the T-55, M-60... Of course it will be more expensive for us, but will get you money more often and will give us more crewable tanks/vehicles also more often. Just a tought. Give me a M-60 a T-55 or a AMX-30 and I will happily pay for each of them.

Run and hide on his hole!!

I'm not a fan of micropayments in principle, and we don't really have the infrastructure in place as far as the code base is concerned. I suppose it could be done, but like you said, if it's going to cost you more the question really is if it is worth it.

For you the answer is apparently "yes" (although I suppose it would still depend on how much we'd charge for each vehicle), for others it might not be the case. Anyway, it would result in an atomization of license options where we'd have to charge separately for engine upgrades and vehicles, and then half of the scenarios won't work properly anymore and whatnot. No, I don't think it's worth the trouble.

Totally forgot the license thing, my fault. Of course that make things a lot more complicated.

And yes I would be really interesting in new crewable tanks released as DLC's. I think 20€ is a good deal for a new crewable (sights only). Of course is my opinion only.

Or you could set a crowdfunding page for each crewable tank you want and give the money to eSim.

This way, they pay at a cheaper price the artworks, wich makes the addition of the vehicle more "appealing".

But again, to get a fully crewable vehicle, you got to have the documentation to know how it works, the reference photos to build the 3D, and have decent sound files for the audio.

By exemple, you can still manage to get enough money to pay a crewable Type 90, but you'll never get enough data to model the interior of it.

Sometime, sharing those data to eSim is more important than paying for the addition.

Simply because it's the groundwork before doing anything else.

I like your idea, but money will let Esim games focus resources in creating that tank we want. Ssnake will say If we're right or wrong.

And that will require us creating a poll of the tank (one of the options Esim offers) we want before starting to gather money.

Sure, but don't forget that the biggest incomes come from professionnal customers.

Esim IS focused on them first. Then it's a matter of what amount of time they have to satisfy their regular customers.

Starting a poll or a topic on a specific tank can :

-allow to gather data (manuals, photos, sounds, ...)

-allow to count who's in.

-allow some tankers to share some nice anecdotes about this tank.

-allow to built in a greater expectation when new upgrades are announced (wich is a bad thing at some point)

And what happens if you say build a scenario (or worse a MP game) with say an S-Tank in it and I join but haven't bought the S-Tank model?

Presumably such scenarios would only work if you own all the models used in them?

At least now Scenario / Campaign designers know that the palette they use is exactly the same as their audience.

Personnaly that's the reason why I hate DLCs.

I'm still convinced that collecting funds to bear a greater part of the addition cost is the solution.

Those who backed are satisfied to be part of the effort done to bring their pet AFV. Those who didn't, got a new vehicle, happy or not. Esim continu it's development, increasing it's profit while giving it's community the impression of meaningfulness.

Rise Of Flight has a similar DLC model.

Essentially, all of the addons are installed via official patches and people who purchase the new flyables get the crewable positions and ability to fly them. Everybody has the DLC, but only those who paid have them activated as flyable and both parties fly online together with no issues. Works flawlessly.
