The training session focused on bridges and obstacle crossing.

The five or so who attended learned the "big secret" of how to cross a surface laid minefield (look where you are going, drive slowly, do not drive over the mines).

We then went onto bridge recognition (not so much what a bridge looked like but which bridges could take what weight / type of vehicle.

So the wooden ones that the Scimitar can cross are not Warrior friendly for example.

Having done that at the individual level we worked on routes for Troops of vehicles to succesfully cross and from there setting up stand alone routes that whole units can use so long as the Troops make it to the initial waypoint.

Also covered off on the MLC signs on some maps and the fact that these are there to add "colour". They aren't linked dynamically to the bridge type.

So a wooden bridge with a MLC sign in front of it of "70" is still a wooden bridge and will not take a MLC 70 vehicle.

But what if there is no bridge?

We covered off what to look for (width of the river, contours, banks, foliage, where the graphic limitations mean that the banks almost touched at a bend, etc.) and how to cross (how crabbing will work - left stick, right stick, if driving straight doesn't, sometimes reverse gear is better, etc.).

Of course "Murphy's Law" meant that the guy who normally has the biggest issue with these things wasn't able to join us. :)

Next week will probably be a play test of one of the Rolling Thunder missions - depending on how development is going.

Hope you can join us!
