Rotareneg
There's something wrong with the way transparent textures on trees and bushes are sorted, which results in the leaves on the other sides of the trees showing through the trunks: This also makes the polygons with the leaves show through each other in a odd way, but that's a lot more visible when moving the camera around in the sim.
Moderators Volcano Posted October 1, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 1, 2014 Yes, that is already known. Actually, it has nothing to do with transparent textures, rather, it has to do with how SB depth sorts the model (it currently sorts by mesh frame, rather than sorting by polygon). This has the side effect of requiring more mesh frames per model if something is to be depth sorted properly, and the trees typically have only two mesh frames: all branches and trunk, hence all the branches appear on top of each other or on top of the trunks. So either we need to update the tree models one day or change the behavior and performance of how we depth sort models, or both.
Lt DeFault
Does this have anything to do with the Lemur seeing blurred areas around tree limbs?
Moderators Volcano Posted October 2, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 2, 2014 Does this have anything to do with the Lemur seeing blurred areas around tree limbs?IIRC that is a different issue to do with billboarding, but yeah that one is known as well. Last I heard this was actually fixed but it caused a performance issue, so for the time being the issue remains until further improvements can be made.
Lt DeFault
Okay, thanks. It's no big deal, I was just curious.
