TGIF 2015: scenario list, discussion, and house rules

Recommended Posts

One other good thing about the mission is that it is so simple, we spent maybe 5 minute in the Planning Phase instead of the usual 45.:gun:

I think it was because the two CO's knew what they were doing. ;)

16 OCT scenario:

Mech Company MTC (1978)

SUMMARY:

***NEW SCENARIO***

Blue: Leopard AS1, M113, M901 and a light infantry company

Red: T-72M, T-62, BTR-80 and light infantry company

Friendly map updates.

Both sides conducting movement to contact to take a central town. Light infantry forces up front moving to occupy the town while the mechanized forces move to support them.

ADMIN:

  • Avoid studying the enemy's side; only gather intel from the briefing and exposed enemy unit icons (enemy intel), and briefly looking over both sides to figure out which one you want to CO. Anything beyond that ruins the fog of war element.
  • To avoid passwords, open the scenario in Network Session as HOST and choose the side you want to play and go to planning phase. You may briefly look at both sides like this to see which side you want to play or CO on. As CO, once you choose a side, go to that side and create your plan.
  • Remember to play within the TGIF House Rules and SB.com community rules.

23 OCT scenario:

6k Front 2013-3011-OMU

SUMMARY:

Blue: M1A1 and M2A2

Red: Leopard 2A4 and CV9035-DK

...you know the story. Both sides fighting over DEATH VALLEY area, with objectives on both sides. Friendly map updates.

ADMIN:

  • Avoid studying the enemy's side; only gather intel from the briefing and exposed enemy unit icons (enemy intel), and briefly looking over both sides to figure out which one you want to CO. Anything beyond that ruins the fog of war element.

30 OCT scenario:

Civil War Krasnovia-Scania-3025b

SUMMARY:

Blue: Soviet stuff, all types

Red: Soviet stuff, all types

This is a replay of a new scenario that was played only once earlier this year. Changes were made based on feedback.

Both sides are fighting over objectives held by both sides, with a city in the center.

ADMIN:

  • Avoid studying the enemy's side; only gather intel from the briefing and exposed enemy unit icons (enemy intel), and briefly looking over both sides to figure out which one you want to CO. Anything beyond that ruins the fog of war element.

Had a lot of fun with the last battle, both sides fought hard and casualties were about even. High intensity the whole time.

Good job by all who participated on both sides. :drink:

6 NOV scenario:

Symmetrical Attack 11-SC-3025-OMU

SUMMARY:

Blue: BLUEFOR stuff (variable selection)

Red: OPFOR stuff (variable selection)

This is a twist on Symmetrical Attack. It has been said that an own party map update version was desired, and I listen. So, it has been placed on an open and rolling map (Scania) with own party map updates and some other small improvements. This is as opposed to a more hilly, steeper, and typically more wooded map with full map updates. We just have to see how it goes. ;)

ADMIN:

  • Avoid studying the enemy's side; only gather intel from the briefing and exposed enemy unit icons (enemy intel), and briefly looking over both sides to figure out which one you want to CO. Anything beyond that ruins the fog of war element.

(13 NOV scenario: Combat Commander)

20 NOV scenario:

Warlords of Paderborn-3028

SUMMARY:

Blue: US stuff (M1s, M2s etc)

Red: OPFOR stuff (Strv 122, CV90s, T-72 etc)

Green: UK stuff (Challenger 2, Warrior, Scimitar etc)

Grey: EU stuff (Leo 2E, Leo 2A5, Ulan etc)

We played this earlier this year, but it was edited since then. This is the scenario where four sides, four corners of the map, all fighting over the center. Also, this now has friendly map updates.

So here is the deal: added to the briefing is text that states that "strict alliances where objectives are divided up exclusively and agreements are made avoid fighting in the central area are completely forbidden. Also there should be no alliances in the final 30 minutes".

What this means is, there are no "team wins" here. The side with the highest points gets 1st place, then the next highest 2nd place, and so forth. Also, it is not in the spirit of the scenario to make alliances, period. However there is nothing stopping two sides from saying "I am not going to attack your home area until 30 minutes remain" as a basic agreement that you will avoid ATTACKING EACH OTHERS HOME region. The objectives in the middle should never be divided up however and should always be fair game. Also, all agreements not to attack each others home region must be considered null/void in the final 30 minutes.

Again, the reason here is because the scenario is not intended to be bipolar (alliance A vs. alliance B), as that is just pointless and the scenario may as well be just red vs. blue. :heu:

Other than that, let's have a brawl over the center and there should be plenty of action for everyone... :)

NOTE: Not picking on anyone here, just trying to let everyone know the intent behind the scenario.

OK, this TGIF's scenario announcement is easy -- 20th NOV will be the scenario mentioned in post #411

http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showpost.php?p=279482&postcount=411

We swapped it to a new scenario at the last minute, under the idea that we will hold out on it for the following TGIF in case we can get more players.

If possible, the same people who volunteered to CO last week should announce/volunteer again this week (if you want to and are able to, of course). Those COs get first dibs if they are still interested. :)

Also, we will end up playing the scenario this week regardless of number of players (a minimum of 3 per side should be sufficient, but 4 per side would be ideal).

Ok, that leaves Blue, Red, Grey. Last week the volunteers there were MDF (Blue), Colebrook (Grey), Vaquero (Red).

You guys still interested?

Yes, I'll CO Blue again.
