Gibsonm
So a good turn up for the end of the silly season. We had eight along (including Duke and Zipuli as guests from the Northern hemisphere - trying to escape the cold no doubt). We covered off on an update on a work in progress project and then Zipuli got us to test drive one of his new wave of scenarios. As always this was a challenging but enjoyable outing (esp. once it was over). 3.025 64Bit was faultless, or at least no one complained of something major "broken". Should have more news on both of these for the broader audience in a couple of weeks or so. Next Meeting: Timings: 0800 GMT on Thursday, February 5th 0800 in London 1600 in Perth 1730 in Darwin 1830 in Adelaide 1800 in Brisbane 1900 in Sydney, Melbourne 2100 NZST in Auckland http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20150205T0800 Countdown: http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20150205T0800&p0=1440&msg=BG+ANZAC+Steel+Beasts+Session
Zipuli
Thank you guys for signing up to do some Soviet stuff! Your political system seems to be up to task =) Some screenshots from the scenario... 1) Mortars are getting ready for action, prior to combat recon patrol's unsuccesfull attack against "Hill 64". 2) With the CRP attack stopped, the Hill 64 was taken by 1st Motor Rifle Coy. 3) And right when the Coy reached its objective, the enemy counterattacked from the left flank. The tank platoon is seen through the FO team's perspective. Ouch. 4) The FO calls in SPA Battalion barrage and the riflemen make good use of their RPGs. It seemed like the enemy attack was destroyed, but one of the "Pattons" survived, and later caused massive casualties to 3rd Motor Rifle Coy when they moved in. 5) This is the FO looking down from 1st Motor Rifle Company's position to the enemy main line of defence. The dug in tank platoon was deployed in sections, with good firing arcs to effective crossfire. The barn in the background was lit by the MLRS barrage. The Patton was later destroyed from this position by a missile team, but the stubborn defenders did good job reducing the attackers' numbers from those positions. 6) On the right flank, the Battalion main attack is reduced to a hodge-podge of 2nd and 3rd Motor Rifle Companies and ad-hoc reserves pushed in by Comrade Commander. You can see the 2 Pattons burning while the Engineer Detachment T-62s push forward to kill 2 M113s spotted ahead. Good fight! The Battalion will play a part later in a Head to Head scenario, when Grenny and his panzerjägers deploy to delay. Will be interesting!
Grenny
...Good fight! The Battalion will play a part later in a Head to Head scenario, when Grenny and his panzerjägers deploy to delay. Will be interesting!Looking foward to the secnario details :-)btw: would that be the german or the finnish definition of "panzerjäger" ?
Zipuli
That would be Finnish as plan is now. Though if you'd like to have german units, and it's ok with Gibsonm, it's doable. More details in a pm!
Gibsonm
Well yes but I'm still fuzzy on a fair bit of this.We started "play testing" the mission and by halfway through we had mysteriously "volunteered" (railroaded?) to play some H2H thing. Why I'm not totally against the idea but we were blindsided a bit.I can't guarantee that we can provide eight/seven players again at the drop of a hat.Nor do I have any idea when this is proposed to happen.I've already indicated elsewhere (The Finnish thread and the "Open House" Tactics lesson) that apart from two more Finnish missions, weekends for me are problematic from "now" until post Easter. This may well be important as I think from trying to join the dots that the idea is this, whatever it is, is planned to be run on a "off Finnish" weekend?
