Can we have a Sticky thread for New Players?

A suggestion is to add labels to the sections so the info is easier to find.

For example:

1. LEARNING TO PLAY WITH YOURSELF (haha)

A. Through Experience

B. Through Reading

2. PLAYING WITH OTHERS

A. Regular Events

B. Semi-Regular Events

C. Organized Groups

Sure once I know how to do it.

Working out how to underline was bad enough. :)

I added some sections in there. Once you are happy with it, I think the best thing to do is to add it as a separate forum that sends users straight there when clicked.

Thanks.

I was trying to avoid the silly (IMHO) lines right across the page.

I was looking for Headings, Sub Headings, etc or even the ability to change font size but I guess that's a bit much.

We may have to thank a youtuber for that.

"DevilDogGamer"(??), he has quiete a few followers. Good promo I'd say!!

And agreed, there should be a sticke with some basic info on all the active/available VU's for new players to get Info...Idealy in the opening post.

He is the reason that I found this game. I did not realise how much I missed being on a tank until I saw DevilDogGamers' videos. Which led me to more videos, which led me to buy this sim. I haven't been on a tank in over 30 years but this sim is probably more acurrate than I remember things. I am impressed by how easy modern technology has made this line of work (tanking, that is). Will start online soon.

P.S. I like the wiki page, it is a good place to start.

Right so the Wiki page (such that it is) is written.

Of course the target audience has no idea its there or how to get to it.

Can we have a "sticky announcement" (if such a thing exists) which is a simple link to the Wiki Page?

Something like:

Subject: "Where to go if you are a new person"

Text: Congratulations on buying Steel Beasts and welcome to the community!

Your first port of call should be the dedicated Wiki page for new comers:

http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbwiki/index.php?title=Starter_Pack

And keep in mind the Wiki itself is a great reference tool to supplement the User Manual:

http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbwiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

After that, have a look around here and feel free to introduce yourself to the group.

Welcome! :)

That should keep the new person on track and avoid comments about what does and does not happen in goal, etc. ;)

Maybe include it in a welcome e-mail that gets sent out when someone registers on the site?

I would only add to Mark's example a suggestion to bookmark the page(s).

...I suggest including the links above on the SB Home Page - right below the "Welcome to SB" box.
