On Thursday, 3 September, BG ANZAC played as a British Combat Team based on D Squadron, 17th/21st Lancers and attempted to secure the critical remaining rail bridge at Hamelin in 'Combat Team Flank Attack at Hamelin 1990', available to download at http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/268/p13_fileid/2581. Below is the photographic story of 1 Troop's action:

1 Troop commander One Zero [Panzer_Leader] restocks ready ammunition in dead ground after the troop neutralised an enemy BRDM-2 AT platoon identified in OHR, while enemy artillery falls in the background.

Soon after, One Zero takes the opportunity to replenish ammunition stocks before resuming the advance on HAMELIN after elements of the Echelon [Gibsonm] move to 1 Troop's location.

1 Troop skirts the southern edge of a minefield 3 Troop [Tac197] has identified and is hung up on to its north.

One Zero surveys the suspected counter-penetration force it destroyed in a sharp encounter south of KLEIN BERKEL.

The four T-64Bs and three BMP-2s of the counter-penetration force burn after failing to halt the Death or Glory Boys' thrust on HAMELIN.

The commander of One Zero observes as his gunner engages a BTR defending the approaches to HAMELIN and objective EDINGTON.

The unfortunate moment when One Zero is destroyed by a high-angle RPG strike in the closing minutes of the battle to clear EDINGTON, only metres from the remaining bridge across the Weser and Combat Team Delta's final objective.

Thanks to Gibsonm for hosting a fantastic evening of virtual armoured combat and the members and friends of BG ANZAC from Australia, New Zealand and Thailand who participated :cvcsalut:
