General

Based on the BTR-D chassis, itself a derivative of the BMD family of airmobile APC/IFVs, the 2S9 Anona (Rus: 2C9 “Anemone” ) is a fully amphibious airmobile 120mm self-propelled gun-mortar developed by the former Soviet Union which entered service in 1981. The 2S9 is generally referred to by the appellation NONA-S (Новейшее Орудие Наземной Артилерии [Newest Ordnance of Ground Artillery]) with the “S” suffix indicating its self-propelled role. The primary weapon consists of a turreted 2A51 120 mm breach-loading mortar capable of firing HE, HE/RAP, HEAT (direct fire), Smoke, and various precision rounds such as the Kitolov-2M and KM-8 Gran. The 2S9 is in use by various former Russo/Soviet republics and client states along with China (limited numbers), Syria, and Venezuela.

Introduced with Steel Beasts Pro PE version 4.250 the 2S9 is fully functional as a high-angle indirect-fire artillery piece capable of firing HE and smoke missions.
