Steel Beasts PE Won't Start, Help!

Hi,

I have just built a new rig and am now putting my games back on, when I went to fire up Steel Beasts PE I received this error-

The first box that opens says-

Generic application error

Switching to the reference rasterizer, a software device that implements the entire Direct3D feature set, but runs very slowly.

Then I get-

Warning, nothing will be rendered.

The reference rendering device was selected, but your computer only has a reduced- functionality refernce device installed, install the Directx SDK to get the full reference device.

My graphics card is a nVidia GTX580 with the latest drivers.

I've installed various DirectX varieties to no avail.

I installed to my c:\games directory and installed the Directx that was on the disc and have all the latest updates.

I am using Windows 7 x64.

Any ideas?

Do as the message says!

Update directx and direct x sdk and you are good to go.

And directx on the disc is proberly a couple of years old.

Do search on google for a newer version

It's ok I was being a plonker!

I was installing off of the original CD then using the patches I had on my PC.

I found the proper 2.538 upgrade on a CD and installed from there and i'm up and running now.
