        1. Feind/Enemy:     


                ROT greift aus Norden an.
                Spitze eines vstk BMP-Btl BMP-2, T-80) ca. 10 km nördlich BUTTLAR im Anmarsch nach Süden aufgeklärt; weitere Kräfte eines        BMP-Rgt folgend.
                Vermutliche FdAbsicht: Vorstoß im Zuge ULSTER nach Süden. Mit starken Aufklärungskräften voraus ist zu rechnen!
                Ich erwarte den fdl. Hauptstoß über BUTTLAR - BORSCH - B 278 und ggf. Nebenstoß über BERMBACH - KRANLUCKEN.

                Lead elements of a reinf BMP BN (BMP-2, T-80) 10 km North of BUTTLAR advancing South. Further forces of a BMP Rgt follow.
                Suspected enemy intention: Advance south in the course of the ULSTER. Strong reconnaissance forces ahead are to be expected.
                I expect the enemy main thrust over BUTTLAR - BORSCH - B278 and the possibly supporting attack over BERMBACH -

                10. PzDiv ist mit Vorauskräften beiderseits ULSTER angetreten, um Nordrand der RHÖN vor Eintreffen des Feindes zu nehmen.
                Vstk 4./104 als Vorhut des Btl hat Bereich NEUSWARTS - GÜNTHERS - SCHLITZENHAUSEN soeben erreicht.
                Bislang keine Feindberührung.

     

                10th AD has started attack with advance forces on both sides of river ULSTER to take northern edge of the RHOEN before enemy arrives.
                Reinf 4th 104 as advance guard has just reached the area NEUSWARTS - GÜNTHERS - SCHLITZENHAUSEN.
                No contact with the enemy so far.

     

    B.    Auftrag/Task:


                Vstk 4./104 tritt umgehend weiter an und nimmt Obj Enge WENINGENTAFT - BUTTLAR - BERMBACH. Setzt Aufklärung anschließend nach Norden an.

    Gradual  Retreat

    Excerpts of the battalion commander's orders for...

    The red tide 1988...  50 miles East of Archen.

     

    1) SITUATION:


        a) Enemy:

     

    The Enemy Soviet forces are moving in to try and sieze another town to capture. Despite their overwhelming success they are moving quickly without much re-supply.

    This brings us to the conclusion that the enemy force will try and use a lightning attack, with speed as their main weapon to overwhelm us. Our best esimates are that they are on 60/70% ammunition and 50% fuel.

     

    Our Reconnicancce elements before we lost contact spotted lone BDRM-2's and BMP-2's, with a possible BMD sighting. So they could potentially with the attacking force be mostly motorised. They will be channeled down our line as the bridges have been mined to stop the advance of enemy forces.
        
    b) Own
        
    We are going to be overwhelmed in the long run, maybe not in this battle but as a whole fighing force, the German forces have fallen on the northern flank, yet the BAOR (British Army of the Rhine) still stand strong with Challenger 1's.

     

    All forces will gradually fall back, but we are making time for civillian evacuation, the town of "Himmilsdorf" (not on map) still needs time for its civillians to be evacuated by ground trucks.

     

    We also have recon team of 2 M3A2's with lost contact, last known position was around grid "720,413", they spotted enemy scouts before falling back to our supplimentary position, it is overcast with rain so radio signalls havent been clear, they may just not have any signal at this point till we get closer.
     
    We've got a mostly mechanised force with 2 platoons of M2A2's, 1 platoon of M1A1 (Ha) another platoon of M1A1, two more M3A2 Bradleys and CSS elements. 1st Light Cavalry managed to get us some M966 HWWMV's as well.
        
    c) Attachments and detachments:


    CO is an M1(IP) and an XO M113 OPMV,  and a platoon of mobile mortar carridges. There are sone M113AS4's for close protection, but they may need to be moved up.

     

    2) MISSION:


    We are going to hold back the enemy forces for ***One Hour***, if we do that and they dont get past the civilians from "Himmilsdorf" will be able to escape safely, if they break through then the evacuation will cease and the trucks will leave with or without them.

     

    The company will move up and make contact with the enemy, whilst on a defence with a gradual fall back, to the defence line.

     

    3) EXECUTION:

     

    Intent: Conduct a hasty defence to stop the Soviets frob Breeching the line.

     

        a) Concept of Operation:

              
    The tactics are down to the field commander, but  a "peel-off" force should investigate the last known position of the M2A3's.


            i) Maneuver:


        None it is down to the field commander.
       
            ii) Fires:


    You've got four 120mm mortar tubes available, with supply vehicles, they can be an imperitive asset.

     

            iii) Additional assets:
        
    Repair and recovery along with medical assets, the useuall CSS.

     

        b) Tasks to Maneuver units:

        If a vehicle is damaged it would be best to repair it, but depending on time and the situation it is your call.

    OPERATION DEVOLVER - The Conclusion
    by Apocalypse

     

    SITUATION

     

    Camora has liberated El Catin and the Wiran's have been forced to retreat south of the El Catin River.

     

    The Wiran's are down but not out; their 1st and 2nd Brigades have been destroyed but they are still defending south of the El Catin River with their 3rd Battalion. Your battalion will attack from the north while 3rd Rifle Battalion establishes a blocking position to the east in Valera. Signals intercepts have identified a potential location for the 3rd BN Command Post, which is located on your map.

    Hello Gents Follow up to last:

     

    Latest version is 4.379

     

    So its prudent to take all possible measures as we are now 35+ players.

     

    Observe that the below inputs are solely for server stability given the somewhat extreme (in all the good ways) number of players. 😁👍

     

    I have bought 10 more slots for TS, so we now have room for 40 guys. Not that expensive and pretty easy TBH because I have a good commercial TS host.

     

    NOW ...

     

    With 35 people in a BTN vs BTN engagement with players literally strewn across the world, then I am not going to beat around the bush: we are challenged.

     

    So here is what we can do to make it less stressful:

     

    - Pretty Please: all players UNLESS you have a highend connection, then do NOT livestream.

     

    - Similarily that unless you have a Highend PC - and with PC we are talking Processor NOT Graphics card, then shut of all not critical background operations and processes.

     

    - Please do NOT alt Tab backwards and forwards.

    "Real Low practical info we are now 33 people going to play tomorrow so be there in good time , be ready cause we wont wait on anybody , we will be ready to help with comms from 1 hour before game start , please test that the test scenario in the first post in the signup thread is starting , we wont have 29 people sitting waiting for 1 guy who didnt check his stuff, so prepare , be ready and have fun most of all "

    So to be clear, PLEASE:


    - Be early (Duck is there early and I will be there as soon as I can - so around 30-45 minutes early please so we can set up your TS)

     

    - Be prepared (latest version of the software, verified that the scenario works and that your TS is updated)

     

    - Be minimalistic in what you stream etc. unless you have a good connection (With pushing towards 35 people then a slow connection affects all)

     

    - Have Fun (our focus and objective #1)
